1. Haven't been to Hillsborough since Glavin day's, and it used to get a bit tasty afterwards. Is that still the case? 2. Can you get a train from Meadowhall to the ground? Any help much appreciated
It's never a particularly pleasant atmosphere before, during or after the game, and it can get a bit 'tense' on Leppings Lane after the match because they usually let all their fans walk down the road at the side of all our fans towards the coaches, but having said that I'm sure you would be okay with your lad, if they are going to fight they tend to fight with lads/blokes of a similar age, and aren't really interested in families/those with women/kids, so if you keep your wits about you it will be ok
Missus asked if she could go. I said no. You get the tram from Meadowhall to Hillsborough but it takes about an hour from memory.
I find it best to walk from the Train station in Sheffield through Pond street bus station and up to Castle Square. There's a Tram stop there, and a Weatherspoons called Bankers Draft. There's also a few more pubs around there.
you should be ok with the young mate but keep your wits about you, a large number of the fowls so called lads are sly spineless c@nts who are well known for bullying smaller numbers and hitting soft targets.
From experience, Wednesday away can be intimidating but very rarely actually dangerous. For all the banter and questionable exit procedures, I've rarely seen any fighting and even then it was clearly groups of lads both up for it. You should be fine. It's so heavily policed any verbals usually result in intervention so little chance of trouble. Trams from Meadowhall or Sheffield Station drop at Leppings Lane and are decent. If you have a car park in Middlewood park and ride, easy and cheap!
