Davey destroyed Muller. The man smashed his knee to bits and gave a signal to the bench he needed to come off. He held on to half time where the change should have being done but no he came back out. His choice? I dont think so. His confidence has been destroyed by Davey by sending him back on. Keepers and strikers play on confidence.

an arm round the shoulder or a kick up the arse from a better manager would make him again IMO. same can be said for most

I believe that keeping Muller on in that game was the wrong decision

But in no way can it be said to have destroyed Muller's confidence. That's just crap.

that is extremely harsh, he had little luck after leaving us for birmingham for a nominal fee but he did well for us.

Martin Taylor scared me, i seriously have never seen a keeper as bad as that

And a better GK coach than Kelham who looks like he only cares about out field players

    Good comparison : Kevin Miller

great when Bassett first signed him, then got progressively fatter/worse over time until towards the end of the 01/02 season he contributed to our downfall (remember him attempting to punch the ball against Bradford and Ward beat him to it ending up we drew a game that we were winning 3-1), was dropped for Marriott and got the munk on big time and left.

Of course it did. He would not have being out so long if went to hospital without playing on.

I thought Miller was ***** from the start

Yes he had some good games, but the amount of times he stood watching the ball float in to the net was unreal.

You've absolutely no idea if that is true or not

As I've said, I believe that sending Muller out for the second half was the wrong decision, but there is no evidence what-so-ever that him continuing to play made the injury worse.

I am sure Miller was not the best but Muller was quality until Davey got near him. The reason most of the prem was scouting him

The risk of causing further and irreversible damage was increased though.

"We had an argument in the dressing room about whether he should come back out....I won that one"

Was never a Davey fan, but that was the day I began to hate him with a passion. The man is a lovely person.

    The first season under Bassett

I thought he did well. fomer million pound keeper, wasnt he on strike at Palace over wages? admittedly we conceded a lot of goals, but I remember Miller being one in contention for POTS, behind Hignett.

I'm no Davey fan (read my posts), far from it but I have to disagree with you spider. I cannot imagine any manager forcing an injured player back out to play against their will and likewise I can't see a player at this level being forced out to play when they are injured. I do believe Davey that it was Mullers decision and I think his own inexperience let this happen.

Oh and the worst keeper has to be Vito Mannonie, on loan from Arsenal.

Yup, it was the wrong thing to do. I made that point many times after the game. But do you believe for a minute that it destroyed Mullers confidence, which is the argument here? It risked his physical well being which makes it a pretty appalling decision in my view, but Muller's poor form at the moment has nothing to do with Davey sending him out for that second half and shattering his confidence.
