Can you imagine finding out that one of our players had been 'fixing' matches? I'd be absolutely livid. The fans care so much about these games, and invest a huge amount to attend. Takes the mickey. What are the consequences for these players involved? For what it's worth, when I saw that thread earlier my mind instantly went to a certain penalty miss at home to Birmingham a while back...
The player who missed that is no longer at the club and the rumour in the earlier closed thread was it was a current player who was arrested Its hard to manipulate missing a penalty as the award of one is very hard to ensure unless the ref is also in on the scam - usually its things like getting booked or sent off which can usually be managed. I hope the info is wrong and its not a current player or if it is at least not one who actually got on the field at Reading or Yeovil
Not sure I want to post this link... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ed-connection-spot-fixing-six-rearrested.html
A friend of mine who I wont name. was done/accused for spot fixing playing rugby league. eg x number of drop goals in a game. then would drop that many goals, was a bit suspect when he as dropping goals at 40 points down lol. many of my mates had their betting accounts suspended
reading the preston forum someone mentioned the book 'The Secret Footballer' which describes a player kicking the ball out from the kick-off for the first throw-in.
why not? providing his heads in the right place, he's not even been charged yet let alone proved guilty. hope he's not done anything wrong.
If its betting on himself getting booked I wouldn't have thought he'd have got very good odds anyway!
