How do you know about Doyle? Have you seen him play? JCR has been shocking so far so he has a lot to do to get himself back in the team
To be honest, not 1 player has set the season alight, so how can we say "this is our best team"</p> We all know what team we would each like to see, but that's not to say it's our best </p>
is it? Doyle at RB? Based on half a game today in said position? I might be tempted to push Foster out to RB and put Shotton in with big Dave at CB - but none of the new players have had enough of a chance justify selection (or dropping) really. And Hammill has been outstanding this season I have to say, quick to release the ball to colleagues in promising positions. Or not. I dont think the Icelander is the midfield general that all think he is on here either - I'd play him but i'm not 100% convinced. I'm with Doddy. I'll judge the 'best' team when we've strung a few performances together.
So that's one game this season....... And he's guaranteed a place?</p> Needs to do a lot more for me to warrant a guaranteed start </p>
RE: Which players have warranted a guaranteed starting place this season? Exactly my point in further up this thread, so how can it/he be in the "best team"?
Do you know something, mate? I haven't the foggiest idea what our best XI is. If anyone claims they do, they're certainly a better man I. So, for me, no player has earned the right to be an automatic selection in the first team on this season's performances. Andy Gray has been our best player, in my opinion, this season. But had Jon Macken been fit yesterday, I don't think Gray could've complained had he been on the bench.
I respect you and your opinion However, I still don't feel our players (both individually and collectively) have been anywhere near their best. As such, on this season's performances, no player has done enough to warrant an automatic place inthe starting line up. In my opinion.
same here and darren moore has been awful this season for me. He's let players run passed him in every game i've seen him play so far and his positioning has been far from perfect which some players can get away with but when you have the speed of James May its a bit harder.
One of the reasons I'm still optimistic Is that I believe there's a great deal more to come from our players, again both individually and collectively.
RE: One of the reasons I'm still optimistic I hope you are right. The new players need to be given time to settle in, adjust to their new team mates and the new manager and his ideas/tactics. I agree that there has been no stand out player so far this season and as one of the players stated they are all "on trial". Let's hope that the manager can find a winning combination and soon. Stating the obvious, we need to stop conceding goals first. The month of October will be very interesting and by the end of the month the manager will probably have a better indication as to the strength and quality of our squad.
Yup, you're right If we're still in the bottom three at the start of November, my optimism may have faded somewhat.
