Yes I read somewhere, sometime back - that when a shot is deflected, or it hit's the woodwork - then it isn't classed as being on target. Which makes sense - if the striker shoots and the ball is heading 6 yards wide, only for it to be deflected towards the goal - then the initial shot wasn't on target. Same goes for the woodwork, the aim of the game is to get the ball into the net - NOT hit the post or bar, so hitting the woodwork would be OFF target aswell.
RE: ah but...... Oh, in that case - it should have been classed as ON target then. The ball was heading for the net initially, and after the deflection. Even if it was deflected wide, it should still have been classed as ON target.
What about the one that Simonsen made in the second half from a Howard free Kick. Someone headed it on target, keeper saved just before Nyatanga got to it.
Their keeper only made one save and that was from Ferenczi's back heel. Not sure it would have reached the goal though , thats maybe why it wasnt classed as on target.
So everyone's raving about our performance And we didn't even get a shot on target! Well, there you go.
We did play well, lacked the killer pass though, as I said following someone saying mid-table is a cert , we dont look like we are gonna score too many.</p> If we can get our distance shooting worked on , we might get teams to come out a bit more so we can get in behind the oppos.</p>
Couple of efforts last night from Distance that should have done better, especially one from McCann when he turned his man but hit it past the left post.
