It says on Barnsley site that there are 1400 tickets to go on General sale. And on another page from today it says 'sales expected to smash the 13,000 barrier' Does this mean we don't have all the West stand? Please tell me this isn't true..
I spoke to someone on the ground staff a while since and I'm sure its something to do with a a rusty support beam. Then again I dream't the other night there'd been an earth quake so I may have got it wrong but don't think I have.
RE: I think part of the upper west stand is condemded unsafe It's about time the west stand was flattened to be honest. I know that now is not the right time, and many like the oldy worldy bit of the ground but first opportunity that the finance becomes available, it should be rebuilt. They should be planning for it happening by drawing up specs, planning permissions etc.
Just asked someone in the know... he says the end 15 seats at the away end of the west stand are not useable because the structures unsafe. and we aren't allowed to sell the bottom row of seats in the away end. So the ground capacity should be just over 22000 for the Chekski match. With my CSE in maths I've worked out there should be about 2000 tickets for general sale come Monday. Happy queueing everyone!!!
If true, it would surely pay them to whack another beam in! Maybe piggy-back another one underneath the existing one. Job's a gud un!
Plans are in place to redevelop the West Stand but it's very early stages and is probably two years away. I think the idea is to create some offices within the stand that can be bought or hired to cover the costs.
to cover the costs??? does that mean that all the seats will become office chairs. our crowds are *****. whats point in replacing a stand that we can't fill, get the money spend on some decent players
I think there's a long term safety issue So something will have to be done at some point. As far as I'm aware the club know the capacity doesn't need increasing so the plan would be to create the offices above the entrance I guess, or something similar. If these offices were used Monday-Friday then the income generated would help pay towards the costs involved.
i know bud. pure frustration I have been one of daveys believers, was also very happy at some of the signings. at the mo, this belief is fast disappearing. players constantly out of position, players worthy of a go, being left in the wilderness, and being served up the *****. I'll rant in another post but no dig was meant
The story expecting sales to smash the 13,000 barrier, appeared Friday lunch time. Also, don't forget that the capacity of 23,009 includes the executive areas in the East Stand and Corner Stand. Not sure if these have been included in the announced sales.
so if we have 7000 season ticket holders and they all got 2 per st, then that means 14000 plus 1400 16,400 home fans. is that right?

ponty end 4508
east stand 7492
west stand 4752. is about 16500 i cant be bothered to do it exactly, so that seems about right really,

I think there are around 1100 centenary members as well Not certain but I think I heard a figure of 6700 ST holders so that gives us a total of 13400 +1100 14500 tickets if we sold them all I thought the capacity was 23000 - take away the North stand (6000 ) which seems to have lost 250 seats if Chelski only had 5750 given to them that gives 17000 left for us so I would have expected us to have 2500 seats left not just 1400, something doesnt quite add up
We apparantly are not allowed to sell the first two rows of the north stand (amounting to abart 250 seats) which seems barmy to me. The stadium has a safety cert no doubt including 6000 in the north stand. We must be the only club in the country that apparantly has to keep seats closed at the front of stands. Cant see the sense in allowing empty seats in the north stand (including a number of "restricted view" seats at the back and then today allowing piggies into the west stand. Is it BFC not standing up for itsen, BFC not getting fair treatment from the tyranical SY police or some way to reduce stewarding / policing costs??? cos I'm fecked if I know why we cant use the stands we have to their maximum capacity. At anfield their cant have been many more than 100 seats left empty for segregation purposes S)
why ever not why did we put them in then - I am baffled we sell the first 2 rows of the ponty and East stand - Didnt notice if the North had first 2 rows sold but I havent been to many grounds where there are rows of seats that aren't allowed to be sold ....stunned
