After years on mismanagement on all levels and supporter apathy ( that includes me ) we are now back in the Championship. A division we all feel we belong in. We are on a bad run, but we are not a bad team. We have great potential and I think we will fullfill it. BUT we are many years away from the heady heights. We need stability. AR has given us that stability if he leaves now due the meddling of a very inexpereienced chairman it's back to the dark days. GS is a fan not a football man. Why should AR listen to him? AR got us to where we are today. He inherited lots of dross and gave us an amazing day at Cardiff - maybe a year too early but what the hell - it was a great day...and taht afterall si what football is all about If we lose the manager, we will lose the players and the fans and the Oakwell housing estate may become a reality.
You make some very valid points ..... ..... the bit that is missing is that AR is making no attempt to halt our slide BACK to League One, even though the Chairman is concerned about our position and encouraging the manager to freshen things up with new signings. As I said in my earlier post, it appears that AR's loyalty to the current squad is greater than his desire to keep us in this division and it is clear to me, and many others, that the current squad is not good enough, so any manager worth his salt, who valued his job, would put friendships and loyalty to one side and bring in some better players. Completely different world, but look at Ferguson at Man Utd. If he had Ritchie's mentality he would still have Mark Hughes at centre forward. He moves 'em in when he thinks they can do a job for him then ships them out when the time is right and that's what good managers do. There's no loyalty in football, it gets you the sack and the players won't give a flying **** about Ritchie if he gets the sack or walks away, they will just protect their own interests by trying to impress the new manager and get an improved contract
Harsh Reallity We were lucky last season and anyone who claims otherwise is frankly deluded.
We needed to strengthen in August anyone who thought otherwise was frankly grasping at straws.
We will go down if we dont have a bit of luck AND bring in 2/3 decent signings
Cardiff is History and our current position is that we are on one of the worst string of results in memory, in a relegation position which at the moment shows no sign of change.
I for one do not wish to see the destabilising effects of another mangager come in BUT I also dont see relegation being a better option. if we lose the next couple of games then things MUST change.

RE: Harsh Reallity I suppose you have to give the manager his due, he gave the squad that got us promoted a chance in the championship, but his loyalty towards his buddies is begining to have an adverse effect, 2 wins in the last 14 games with only one clean sheet all season tells its own story, they are not good enough. Lets be pragmatic, we finished 5th in the 3rd division got promoted on penalties against a team we failed to win in the league. Mcphail went after saying the team needed strenghthening and he didnt want to spend a season fighting relegation, taking the club down without a fight is unforgiveable, defeat in the next two matches and Ritchies gone.
RE: Harsh Reallity I agree we may go down but I'd rather go down and come back stronger than lose another manager now due to a no-mark Chairman trying to get some recognition and some easy glory with the simpler fans ..... If AR says the players aren't right I believe him. If the Chairman won't pay for McPhail or Chopra that is not AR's fault. MCPhail is now on £5k per week at Cardiff we offerred him £1500!!!! AR does not fix the wage structure but the man who is trying to get rid of him does ....
RE: Harsh Reallity why is it a stupid statement ( any need for that? ) Look at Charlton, Bolton etc there bobbing up down between decisions certainly helped them ... Heaven forebid if we went down but the lot taht took us down this time are stronger than the so- called pro's who took us down under SP!
RE: Harsh Reallity Charlton and Bolton both had a manager who was capable of making difficult decisions. I'm sorry but I just can't make any sense of your last sentence.
RE: Harsh Reallity And how many of our better players would stay, or have'nt you thought that through?
RE: I'm sure I've read Macca and Chopra are on £8k a week nt We all know why they chose Cardiff over us, £££, but the words of Mcphail rang true, we ARE in a relegation battle with almost half the season gone. If Chopra and McPhail are on £5K a week then the Flinders transfer money would have covered their wages for a year. Relegation will set the club back years, ACT NOW NOT LATER.
RE: I'm sure I've read Macca and Chopra are on £8k a week nt not being funny but why should we trust you on this one? do you have it in person from either of them-I don't want the figure just £8k yes or no direct from them
RE: You make some very valid points ..... There are some sensible people, who can see past the end of their nose, on this board after all!
Can't disagree with you about the day out in Cardiff at all, but I can't help thinking that we got lucky last year. Our form post Xmax was abysmal for a promoted side and we only managed to scrape into the play-offs due to the failings of others. Then as often happens one side finds that bit extra in the play-offs (both form & luck) and goes up. Fortunately that team was us. I like Ritchie, but some of his tactics this season (or lack of) have been very poor. His stubbornness standing by the likes of Richards & Reid has done him no favours and his realisation that we need to strengthen up front and at centre half 3 months after the rest of us is frustrating to say the least. Where we go from here I honestly do not know. I'd be happy for AR to stay but also not that upset if he left.
