How can you play a 4-4-2 diamond with 1 upfront?

It was obviously 4-5-1, Richards and then Wright played alone upfront.

Overall I think we played quite well. Very pleased with the two new signings, Togwell and McIndoe. Thought they, along with Hecky, were probably our best players.

Richards hit the post with a free-kick in the first half and Yakubu was denied by a great saving tackle by Togwell. Howard COULD also have had a penalty, difficult to tell. McIndoe looked a real threat with his pace and direct running drifting in from the left.

Were totally switched off at the back at the start of the 2nd half with Yakubu, Maccarone and then Yakubu again scoring, although Yakubu could have had a hat-trick as I felt his first shot went over the line before Maccarone headed in.

McParland and Atkinson did well off the bench, with McParland setting up McIndoe for a deserved goal after a terrible Turnbull error.

Williams could have got a 2nd back after a good run, but I think 3-1 was about fair.

McIndoe was excellent, and Togwell did well too. Thought Devaney was poor. Difficult to establish anything about Healy really, looked okay though.

    Rochemback - Class. Boateng - Class. Maccarone - *****.

We played one up front with Hayes and Howard pushing up and Togwell sitting back. Worked well IMO and thought Richards held the ball up well.

RE: Hecky at right back and Hassel at left back?

I don't know what you mean *cough*

Actually it's because I was going to have the formation going the other way with the keeper at the bottom but then i realised that was stupid so i switched it over and forgot to change bertie and albert over.

And yes hayes did keep disappearing [IMG]
