It'll be wonderful to see the big man again after all these years. A superb target man in a truly great Barnsley team. Trevor was a very consistent player for us, whose only aberration was the shirt throwing incident with Allan Clarke at home to Portsmouth in the opening game of the 1980/81 season. However, he more than made up for it with his subsequent performances for us prior to his transfer to Millwall in 1982.
Extremely poor use of the English language By myself, as per usual. I should have used 'The' instead of 'This'. You just can't get the staff these days!
Re: Extremely poor use of the English language Would be nice if tha could could give us a summary of what he talks about mate, Whenever like.
Re: I'd be happy to, mate If I remember correctly after the shirt throwing incident Clarke said Aylott wouldn't play for us again.About two weeks later our reserves played Middlesboro,a game which we won nine nil and Big Trev.scored five.He was reinstated back to the first team shortly after.A fantastic player for us in a fantastic team.
Re: I'd be happy to, mate It's true about the reserve game. However, Trevor didn't earn a recall to the starting line up until after Clarke had left to take over at Leeds and Hunter was appointed manager. Glyn Riley partnered Derrick Parker for the intervening matches.
Think he was just before my time, do you reckon someone who didn't see him play would find it interesting?
That's difficult to assess, mate For us old fogies, it's going to be a nostalgic trip down memory lane. For the likes of yourself, the anecdotes could appear somewhat difficult to relate to, but may well be interesting nonetheless. I've been to a few of these 'An Evening With...' events, finding them fascinating and enjoyable. If you're able to attend, then do so. The big, fat blimp you'll see will be me!
I'm interested enough to go and I was born in 85. Can't learn enough about our history. Only makes me even more of a fan of the club.
Re: That's difficult to assess, mate Are you sure the "big fat blimp"will be you or will it be "Big Trev."
