    C) is a bit of fun and sometimes informative (but very rarely!)

    just wondered as there does appear to be a lot of agitated / angry people on here somtimes, who would probably be better off not getting involved!

    I read an article in the Chronicle about how a previous version of the BBS was raising money for Geoff Thomas' charity over ten years ago, wanted to make a donation and have stayed here ever since. It's always been excellent for finding out BFC related transfer gossip. Also, it's given me the opportunity to meet a great number of other fans, some of whom have become very good friends.

    I've spent time on and off the 'main' Barnsley forums under various different names since that one on the official website (was it?) - how long ago was that? I might be getting confused with that chat room they had going for a while.

    Can't remember how I found this one, but I don't think I'd been following any specific board for a good few years previous to it. I'm here mostly to find out about the news and rumours - living outside Barnsley with no friends who follow the team means that you miss out on a lot.

    Ponty72 joined up first and after hearing him talking about it I thought I'd give it a go. I read it for a while before joining and realised that it was a lot better then 606 which I was on at the time.

    A) Was living in Germany in 2005 and wanted to keep in touch with happenings at Oakwell, but the official site was (and still is) rubbish for that. Had a quick fumble around on the internet and found this forum.

    B) Signed up to keep in touch with Barnsley FC and Barnsley/Yorkshire/England in general

    C) Get a lot of fun out of it and made some very good friends on here. Try to ignore the abuse etc but have been sucked in at times.

    I was probably a couple of years later. I blow hot and cold with it, read more than I post and I'm constantly amused by how seriously some people take it - it's like a soap opera seeing people come and go, fights and vendettas, threats of legal action, some hilarious threads (is there a God? And "Mike Hunt" spring straight to mind) and occasionally, only very occasionally there is some thoughtful and interesting football talk.

    I found its predecessor when we went into admin and I was searching for information on what was happening.
    Registration wasnt needed in those days but there was an occasional issue of some people impersonating other users.

    When Gally set up this site following the unfortunate events concerning the previous sites owner I offered to help moderate and found myself an admin which of course meant I had to be registered, but even then you didnt have to register to post.
    Unfotunately we then had some issues which meant we had to make the site registration only for posting which meant that anyone who wants to post now has to register.

    I get news about the club from here and occasionally help with completely unrelated topics you often get good answers to questions on here, and have met quite a few fans who I never would have known but for this site.
    In particular for away games there is always a group I can meet in the pub before hand (and occasionally travel with ) that I wouldnt have met otherwise.

    Most people I have met on here have been great, even Dragon tyke is OK when you meet him face to face, though there are a few exceptions - not mentioning names though

    I do get a bit sad at the confrontational way that a few posters act on the board and the fact that the line between debating from a different position and trolling becomes blurred for some people but I would be much sadder if the board didn't exist

    I've never looked back... depending on who does the giving.

    I remember you (and your posts) well from the 606 days. I think you hit the nail on the head as to why you were banned; they were a very sensitive lot on there.

    About 1996/7 posted for a few years met some great people set up a fanzine with a fellow forumite. Then it seemed to lose it's way a little so I took a 10 year hiatus/sulk.

    I think it's an excellent site and whatever info I'm looking for re. BFC - tickets, players comings and goings etc. I can find it here.
    As a non-Barnsley born supporter I find that a lot of postings give me an insight into the unique (and sometimes illogical!) way Barnsley people think.......
