This game just floors you sometimes

  1. Everybody on a high, scoring goals for fun, over-optimistic predictions of a top two place by new year's day (I thought that might be possible as well) and then what? I thought we should have beeen at least 4-0 or even 4-2 up by half time but what wasteful finishing! I had a feeling we were going to regret such profligacy and, sure enough, it took less than a minute for Yeovil to equalise in the second half. Anyone who was at Ashton Gate will have recognised the style - City got one just like it, with a player sprinting in from the wing to hammer it past our keeper. I feared the worst then and it was surprising in the end that we only lost 2-1. Credit Flinders for a couple of top class saves. Credit the defence for some top class tackling. Credit.....no, hang on, there isn't any more to give out. As has been said further down, our balls in the air tactic was shameful and totally wasteful. Yeovil were very poor at finding their own men, just like us, but made up for that with enthusiasm. Our lot just didn't seem up for it today - maybe they were tired after Tuesday night. Only Devaney missing from that team, so does his abssence really make that much difference?
I pitied the home based fans having a 250 mile drive back tonight - only 97 miles for me but they were miserable enough. What a difference a week makes. Oh well, on to the next one. Let's not over react.

From what I read from afar, the thing that could screw it up for us this year is the finishing. I know we've just had 5 in a game twice, but it amazes me when I read match reports at the number of chances we make, and don't take. The defence is holding up (except for the last few minutes) but we really need someone who can convert chances.
