This hassell in central midfield is beyond a joke.

we have all been saying it for weeks and our record with him in there speaks for itself. He swops and changes the rest of the team so why not put toggers back in. If we go down I think this will be one of the main reasons, daveys down right pig headedness.

Two games out of approx 15.

not knocking the lad. But its blindingly obvious he is not good enough in that position.

    15 games

    in midfield?

    are you sure??

He's only played 7 since Da Silva was injured.

Played well against Sheff Utd too.

I think there's a difference between him playing well and the benefit of the team

Can't fault Bobby for 100% commitment, and in some games he's potentially been our best midfielder. However I believe by playing him in that position we become very limited in midfield as he isn't a natural midfielder.

He doesn't make the runs recognised midfielders MIGHT make, he doesn't have the same midfield thinking, however he does do a very good job of breaking up play and stopping the other team playing.

Only problem is this turns our formation, and our style, into that of an underdog hoping to snatch a 1-nil victory, even at home.

His personal performances I don't think have been too bad, it's what he offers the team on a whole that lets us down.

    Approx dont know exact.

played in there since qpr away has he not. Minus the games when da silva played. Guess I got it wrong. What is right is that if he keeps on with it combined with poor strike force we shall go down.

    Completely agree

He may play well as an individual from time to time, but it's having a negative impact on the team. He limits us severely.

RE: I think there's a difference between him playing well and the benefit of the team

Some people don't know a good player when they see one.

OK, first couple of games he was average to say the least in midfield but he has settled down well into the role over the last few games. As good as Togwell in that position if not better. You can't use Hassle as a scapegoat to try and deflect attention away from the inadequacies of our forwards (Macken excepted)

Not sure we have anyone else

    Togwell is just as limited
    Johnson is probably not fit

"Some people don't know a good player when they see one."

Hassell has always been overated, imo. He's served us well but is nowhere near as good as some people make out.

He tries hard etc but just isn't up to that midfield role. The gaps in the middle have been astonishing since De Silva got injured and they were never that big when Togwell played there.

Half decent defender? Yes. Midfielder? Not if we want to stay up.

    Just my opinion.

Agreed, Togwell has not put a foot wrong when he has played! Just Davey with his favourites

Hassell a scapegoat? Please point out where I said that

I think if you attempt to read over what I said again you'll see that at no point did I criticise Bobby Hassell's performances, and in fact mentioned that he was probably one of our better performers.

However I'm more than certain that the role in the team Davey is giving him is severley limiting our attacking options. Since he joined the midfield we've failed to score in more games than when he hasn't played, that is probably fact.

Bobby Hassell - Good, honest, committed player. Good enough to play midfield in a championship team that only two months ago was harbouring a top 12 finish? Most definately not.

I wouldn't stay if I were Togwell at the end of the season.
