Apparently Dave C has caved in to the Eurosceptics and is now planning a Euro referendum if they win another term. So this will give us a clear choice between: Identikit ex-Etonian millionaire career politicians who only look for for themselves and govern from 150 miles away (as the crow flies) with a choice between the shower that privatized everything that moved, closed down most of the UK industry and sold off social housing or the shower that took us in Iraq on a spurious lie and oversaw the credit crunch. Or Career politicians from around Europe who only look after themselves and govern from 300 miles away (as the crow flies), but have bought in things like the Human Rights Charter, Working Time Directive and Data Protection policies and made the Euro a success around over 20 countries. I bet we don't get the choice to ditch Westminster completely on the ballot paper...
Jury still out on that one but I must admit for all its many failings I would probably trust a balance between career politicians in the UK and the career politicians in Europe a bit more than just the one set in London. And as I work nominally in the UK but actually all the clients I work for are in mainland Europe I am unconvinced by the we will do better without them idea
Aye, but what they are trying to do is force the next Government i.e. Labour to have to repeal the legislation which will then mean a huge outcry. In the papers at least. And in Nigel Farage's head. I want to withdraw from the EU. But not because it scares me as an Englander.
They can put it in their referendum if they win another term but I really don't see how they can introduce legislation now to bind a future government to hold a referendum on it even if the Tories don't get back in. Same old Tories - imploding over the EU!
If I understand this correctly, they will legislate for a referendum in 2017, assuming it gents Royal Assent, it will be come "law" and therefore will need to repeal it...
The press barons will do their damndest to get them in to deflect the legislation aimed at their corrupt goings on . Also they prey on the dissolution of fed up voters who are reluctant or can't be bothered to vote and are mostly the ones unlikely to vote tory . The Tory voters on the other hand are most likely to always vote.
