I know that I only listen to the matches on Player, but this time last year, or maybe a bit later during that horrible run, it seemed to me that the vast majority of the goals we conceded were coming from defensive errors. I think that I eventually ended up being proved right - once we sorted those out and stopped conceding stupid goals then we absolutely bossed League 1.

I'm not for a moment suggesting that we'll go on to boss this league, but I just think that the whole thing sounds very familiar. I'll admit that I think letting George Williams go was a huge mistake (especially seeing as we now don't appear to have anybody who can play left back), and I don't think we've got enough strength in depth in defence, (mostly because we let George Williams go) but the players that we do have (unfortunately not including George Williams) are still learning how to play together, much as Mawson and Roberts (and George Williams) were last season. We've just played a few games against some of the favourites for the league, and we've lost - it's annoying but it's not the end of the world.

Tonight our club has conceded two goals which will be dealt with on the training ground. We might have lost a bit of heart after them - that's natural - but it doesn't mean that the team needs to be overhauled completely. Those errors can, and will, be worked on. And when we do that, as we did last season, I don't see why we can't go on and win enough games to keep us competitive

    I really liked George Williams.
