But, in my 24 years at Oakwell, I reckon every other manager during those years would have been sacked by now. I also feel, that despite KK's many anti-fan and anti-BFC rants, that the guy has had support from the terraces like no other manager during such an abysmal run. Can you imagine, during Spackman's reign, after 1 win in 10, the Ponty still chanting his name in a supportive manner? Torture, is how Keith describes his job. But IMO, he is the most fortunate manager in my time as a supporter. And some would have you believe that BFC supporters are terribly fickle, with no understanding of the situation, and zero patience.... To finish, I am still a Hillcroft lover. But our relationship is quite rocky at present, and I am sleeping ont sofa
So are you saying he is fortunate not to be sacked like others in the past or that he actually deserves the sack. I'd sack him on the 28th April.
Totally agree Whitey and I think he needs to be grateful for the support and understanding he has been getting and acknowledge it more in public. I think he probably regrets some of his comments earlier in the season when were playing well and looking good but the crowd wasn't particularly vocal as he thought we were a bad set of supporters, the fact that nobody is really calling for his head has proven him wrong. I think a summer of battle crys from KH to the fans awaits, presuming we stay up!!
I am saying that he'll still be manager in August, and considering what I have experienced in my time as a supporter of this club, I feel he's fortunate that that is the case. I think he should shut his mouth, only opening it to rally supporters, to spread optimism and generally big up our club. Because I am well aware of our finances, and what that entails, and I feel that his constant referrals to this, and the moaning at the fanbase has not worked. I saw method to it, early on. But to keep on with it for the entire season has served only to increase the negative vibe HE MOANS about at Oakwell. I think a bit of tub-thumping wouldnt go amiss, but I wont hold my breath
History might just show Hill to be one of the most clever manager's the club has had in terms of management of the media in a nigh-impossible situation. At the moment, everything at the club seems set up to deflect media attention away from the PC situation and on to the team, or the fans, or the performances. I think the whole of the current season has been worked out against what is now coming to court. It is a pity that the board have not been more vocal, but maybe they are not party to the information they need to do this (is that what KH means by 'a lack of intelligence'?) There has to be a worst-case scenario if PC is found guilty and all his assets seized. A second-worst for the club would be that he is found guilty, but the trust funds are not affected, but he is deemed not now to be a fit person to own the club. Best-case scenarios are that PC is found innocent, or that the club, by selling players and reducing the wage-bill, has placed itself pretty much free of debt, whilst retaining Championship status (I hope) and is the best bet around for prospective buyers. There is a dark cloud over the club at the moment and the quicker it vanishes the better for everyone, so that KH has a clear idea as to what finances he has, or has not for the coming season. If, as looks probable (?) KH has managed to keep our Championship status against everything going on off the pitch, he should be seen as a hero, not a villain. Time will tell. Maybe he has the support, as folk mostly realise the extent to which his hands are tied. Now it is up to the players in these coming three games. We really ARE a great little club, lads, and worth sweating every drop of blood for, so go get a point at Hull, one more at Brizzle and three against Brighton!!!
to be honest and this is not sticking up for keith is he was promised things by the board if he took the job then when he took it down the line the board of 3 backtracked thats why they went back for him twice and thought he is their only option because nobody else wanted it and can you blame them.
Agree with that YT. When you meet in the kitchen do you tell him what pressure really is like when having no money? Anyways put a feight up and reclaim the bed.
i think Hills been clever, surrounded himself with players who have either played under him or are lucky to be in this league so none of the players will criticise him.
