This is the real problem in English Football

    For me mainly caused by top clubs having too much cash & power to keep changing rules in their favour.

    Only have to look at Stones - he should be playing first team football somewhere.

    Also successive managers at Barnsley have been reluctant to give youth players a chance & this is endemic
    in most clubs. For me RNL & Digby have shown themselves to be good enough, but it always seems
    easier to bring someone in on loan. That is not a go at Flicker in particular as every other manager since
    we dropped out of the Prem has had pretty much the same attitude & as a result we haven't produced
    much.

    A few clubs, like Palace seem to still be capable of producing players, but they are the exception.

    In the 80's/90's we would lose maybe a player a season to a bigger club, but there always seemed to be a youth player to take their place.

    How many of the squad the got promoted at Cardiff came through the juniors? That must have been the most we have had for quite a while!
