Davey unsure over Constantine Barnsley boss Simon Davey admits he is unsure whether Port Vale striker Leon Constantine's proposed move to the club will be "resurrected". The deal, which would have seen Marc Richards moving in the opposite direction, has collapsed after both players failed to agree personal terms. Davey told the club's official website: "I do not know whether it can be resurrected at this moment in time. "We have things in the pipeline and we do have a lot of offers in for players at the moment, several of which are strikers. "We are waiting on the clubs getting back to us." Constantine however, is unlikely to have a change of heart on the move, insisting he is not willing to join a relegation-threatened side. He told the Stoke Sentinel: "There's no hiding the fact I want to play in the Championship - but nor for four months before coming back to League One. "Barnsley offered me nearly two-and-a-half times what I am on here. It is nothing to do with that. It is about where I see my career going."
That's fair enough. In the summer he'll have more options and likely get offered more money plus a full season the Championship. Just hope the greedy get doesn't break his leg.....
Barnsley offered me nearly two-and-a-half times what I am on here hmmmmm. the player decides he doesnt fancy coming to us cos we look like we're going down. hmmmm. what can we do about that? I reckon we should boycott the games. that'll help.
RE: i dont see what he did wrong would any self respecting football join a club in our state? its like joing a company thats about to fold, why would you?
It seems as though it's your loss our gain so to speak, unless he goes somewhere else before the transfer window closes, or he doesn't sign a new contract and goes for nowt in the summer.
Maybe he came to the place for a look around and.... ...realised that we're a sunk ship. If that's the impression he got for whatever reason, then who can blame him really? No ambition, no fight, no hope.
Don't you think it says something about the state of the club to the outside world that a 2.5 fold increase in salary still isn't attractive enough? Get you head out of your/Sheps backside.
What could we have done? How about sticking with our Manager, who had done a terrific job, offering him a new contract - thus showing any prospective signing that we have stability. Anyone who signs for us in the current situation must be a complete Joey. Things started to go a bit pear shaped for Andy - Gord bailed out. Things are going wrong for Gord - the fans are bailing out. "Get behind us". Oh aye ... the same way you got behind our 5th best Manager of all time.
To be honest - this football lark is easy. I simply post exactly the opposite to what SM does. I find this to work quite well. I've never actually been to a football match.
RE: To be honest - this football lark is easy. neither has he !!!! but he knows a nice cup of Earl grey !!!
Sorry SM only kidding.

To be honest I think he will find it a totally different ball game, excuse the pun, BUT if he got the service he could do a good job. 30 goals in 67 games, scoring 18 before Xmas. Not bad eh.
Cheers. If he's relying on service then he'd struggle in our team. The new manager's stifled any creativity.
Respect To Leon Constantine........ for thinking about his career and not being money orientated like most football players are these days *cough* Beckham *cough*.
RE: To be honest - this football lark is easy. SM & Gord - drinking some tea, B-U-M-M-I-N-G. Saw SM before the Preston game. He's got a massive dish strapped to the side of his head. Everything is becoming clear.
Very worrying news... Constantine (unlike the vast majority of players nowadays, so I can't really fault him for it) makes a decision based on footballing ambition rather than money, and we miss out. End result - a player opts for League One, rather than come here. Last week, Gregan makes a decision based on financial security, rather than footballing ambition. End result - a player opts for League One, rather than come here. Different arguments, same outcome. So who exactly is going to come here to get us out of this mess? Given that the reality of our situation is becoming more and more apparent as each day passes the 'logic' of sacking Ritchie due to 'lack of ambition/not buying players' is becoming increasingly difficult to understand. I didn't like the decision at the time, but this far down the line, and having seen what has transpired since then, it now looks far worse than it did before.
