Can you remember when Shep was in charge and there was only one gate open for the West Stand Lower and people were jumping over the turnstiles

Well Barnsley FC management have struck again

6000 away fans, poor quality stewards, no police presence.........trouble in away end (who would have thought it !!! (dunno) )

And then we get a statement from the management team talking about grills being put up..............................GRILLS !!!
Dont these people realise that hot drinks can be thrown through GRILLS !!!

If it can happen it will happen....................if Barnsley FC need someone that can walk round the stadium and point out the weak points regarding crowd control and potential flash points then I'll foooking do it.............because it seems that there aint anyone capable at the club to do it

Can we have grills in the East Stand?

Might get some decent burgers then!

Where are they going to get hot drinks from? I've never managed to get one at Oakwell!

    Yes Grills Nudger...

they were wanting the money and the snap! They aren't bothered about lobbing coffee on a 16 year old working there. Grills would sort that problem. It doesn't matter about poor quality stewards, policing etc.. take the two lads that ran on, if you want to run on you can do, its simple the police and stewards are out numbered. If someone wants to get on the pitch they will do.

    Grills are no good

....it needs something better than grills...........reinforced plastic would be better.......
Stronger doors and door locks would be better
Police presence at the kiosks would be better

Eaststander eating more burgers would NOT be better (has tha seen the size of him :)S) )

    No Police? Grills?

No Poice Presence? Did you see the film on Calendar last night of the CCTV?

As for the Grills - Shutters are a better description - Im not sure I understand your point but I doubt drink could be thrown through the type in use in the north stand. They broke through a locked door.

How you can blame the management for the behaviour of the scum that did that I don't know. Did you ever expect to see that behaviour at Oakwell? I certainly didn't. The catering manager who had worked at Oakwell 20 years didn't either.

    That's the problem

If the catering manager had worked there 21 years then he'd have expected it.

"They broke through a locked door"

Not according to the interviews on TV and radio with the catering staff who said that the doors don't lock.

    Simple answer

get reinforced glass on all the bars/burger stalls, in all ends with a gap below for money/food to be passed threw.

put reinforced locked doors on all of the above what can only be opened with special cards or only if you are buzzed in.

stewards eitherside of the stalls (like they have in the ponty) if any trouble is seen intervene and call for back up (if needed).

sachets of sauces to stop it getting sprayed everywhere.

i no it may cost a lot and we shouldnt have to do this, but people were put in danger (more importantly bloody kids)

The fault lays with the club....................Barnsley FC are at fault here

............all aspects of security should be taken into account

Comments from the management about grills, I would presume, is directed at grills being put up along the counter like you see at Hillsboro i.e. to stop people jumping over the counter.

This types of grill is not sufficient because I have seen drinks thrown at people who were serving behind these types of grills.
It need all of the front of the counter secure - that means reinforced clear plastic (or what ever material they use).
So the staff can see and hear what the customer is saying but the staff are completely safe.

And OBVIUOSLY the doors need to be sturdy enough for a car to hit them never mind a few fans.

Then there's the question of where the police were at this time. Because there were hundreds in the ground and in the streets but none near the kiosks. That is laughable if it wasn't that serious.

And as for WHO WOULD EXPECT IT !!!...................... :D :D :D

Do we really go to the same matches and mix with the same crowd ??? !!!
Because nearly all football clubs have gangs running with them that are quite capable of this sort of thing
Did you see the Barnsley gangs walking round Barnsley before and after the game looking for any stray Manchester groups. The SAS wouldn't have tackled some of that lot

Manchester fans did this at our ground.............it could easily have been our fans at some other away ground

    Bank style shutter

People warned not to encroach over the line, and in the event of trouble steel shutter closes at 100mph. Arm in the way - tough cheddar.
