I've been in Glasto since last Wednesday so missed the threads discussing that letter that went in the Chron and the clubs response.
After catching up with that thread, and to save bringing it back to the top again, I just wanted to clarify something having read some of the responses. This is most certainly NOT "London Tykes thinking they deserve special treatment" just cos we have further to travel than most, its not even necessarily about the rule change, although its clear we don't agree with it.
Quite simply, we put a view to the club that we thought this ST rule would put a lot of people off renewing, simply because as a group we were (in the main) put off by it. I just wanted to point this out to the club, with the hope that they'd consider alternatives, evensuggesting a few,but to be fair not expecting them to change.
The response we did get back was shocking, and without going into details accused me of being careless (despite never losing an ST thru carelessness, i.e. he generalised and made assumptions) and then threatened legal action if I forwarded the letter, which presumably means posting it on here (after previous replies from BFChad been posted onhere no doubt).
They've lost a fair amount of revenue from us because of this, although we'll get to all the games we can, paying on match day, just the same as we've always done. I have sent a letter to Gordon subsequently and will be happy to share its contents should I be legally entitled to do so. If he doesn't make some concessions, at least by becoming a little more customer focussed and understanding why we are p*ssed off, then my estimation of the current administration at Oakwellwill suffer. As I pointed out to both Don and Gordon, this has nothing to do with the team or pitch performances, the progress we are making there is great and for that I thank Gordon et al.
But on the customer service and PR side of things, our club is in the dark ages.

Not read the threads but read the letter Two points, well 3 really. 1) Badly handled by the club. Letters shouldn't be responded to in the same tone as the customer that would be like "Waiter I'm not eating this it's f******* cold" and the Waiter responds"F*** off elsewhere then". Also there was no attempt to discourage what you've decided to do in the Chron (albeit this could be the Chron's editing). 2) You careless - No. Pissed - Probably. Anyway you're all tw@ts you Southerners.
RE: Not read the threads but read the letter maybe not but if was a waiter and a customer swore at me id bounce him through the door faster than he could think... same as the club , we all have a right to air our views and we have a right for the club to air there's , where our club sem to fall down is they think they have the divine right to be right every time and without recourse, they are aloof and unapproachable , unless you happen to agree with them ! hence - customer satisfaction - zero.
RE: Not read the threads but read the letter To be fair, going to the Chron wasn't my personal idea but I did back up the decision to do so. They read this BBS, even if they claim not to, but I am sure they take things more seriously when they see them in the local paper, rather than posted on here.
Mep*ssed mate? W@nkered would probs be a better word.

But being pissed cant equate to carlessness. i've seen the state of your group when you get to Barnsley nevermind going back

Not quite sure what point your trying to make, but of course being p*ssed can equate to carelessness.
But whatare they trying to do here, cut down on fraud or punish carelessness? If it’s the latter, then they should come out and say so. The club have stated that the policy has been implemented to cut regular systematic fraud amongst its fans.
Imagine them coming out and saying, "As a result of loads of our fans being slack and careless, if you lose your book from now on its your lookout". Then I'd have more respect for em.

This legal action business If you had, for example, forwarded the letter to the press or posted it on here would Mr Rowing have had any grounds for legal action? Or was he, as I suspect, talking out of his arse?
But whilst people do misplace books, there will be cases where a "misplaced" season ticket book is used fraudulently
Things I'm hoping for next season 1 Mostto scores 30 goals 2 We make the play-offs 3 You misplace your season ticket book
I think the clubs more bothered about theuse of season tickets other than the named party. I think the club are making the big song and dance to prevent the fraudulent use however, if a ticket was lost i belive they would deal with each incident on its own merits with regards to admin fees. The rules have been in place for yonks.
The first time someone goes to get a replacement... There's going to be an almighty row down at the box office.
I feel sorry for the staff there who'll have to deal with the protests that are sure to come their way. People will forget about this till the first book is lost, and then the club will have a PR disaster on their hands.
Loads of people lose their book thru a season, thru carelessness or otherwise.

That's the thing As always in these cases, it's the customer facing staff who have absolutely nothing to do with the policy that will get the verbal abuse.
Embarrassing And not just my spelling of that word.
I think for what it's worth that the club has a right to say lose a ticket and pay full to replace - if you bought a ticket for an FA Cup match and lost it then you'd have to buy another one. But going on what you've said and the threat of legal action if you dare let anyone else see it smacks of a persecution complex and makes BFC a laughing stock imho.

I hope so, but.... ...if that is indeed the case, the club are more stupid than I thought.
A simple reply to that extent would have sufficed.
I doubt you're right however. Apparently box office staff have been pointing this rule out specifically when ST books are being collected. If the rule wasn't going to be enforced, as in previous seasons, why would they make people aware of it this time? Scare tactics?

Gerrit posted up then We'll be able to tell you if you're being a set of over-sensitive southern jessies or if you have a genuine complaint.
