I have been doing the most boring job in the garden this morning (dead heading dahlias), so my mind has been wandering. Something that bothered me on Saturday morning was that Mark used my first name. I am not know by my first name, I use my second name, but my first name would appear first on any formal document so strangers who have not met me before often use that first name. Something else occured to me this morning. How was Mark able to identify me as I walked towards the gate. My pencil and paper was tucked deep inside a trouser pocket, and yet he knew me for certain as I approached even though we have not met before. He would be too busy during a game to have had the time to search all the faces of the crowd attending the previous home game, looking for one making a note of an on field incident. It was almost as if he had seen my photograph. And then it struck me.... he had seen my photograph. Who do we know who takes photographs at academy games. If you call up the photographs for the Portsmouth game on Barnsley One, you will see a greater than expected number of crowd shots, but strangely none of me. I will let you make your own minds up about my arithmatic. Returning to my point about my name, could it be that the information which they had was obtained from the electoral role. But how would they have known my address? Could they have followed me home after the game perhaps? I realise that I am putting a lot of twos together here. I also realise that doing this too often results in chaps in white coats coming knocking at your door. I have no way of proving any of this and have no intention of taking things any further, but I would just add that my reports used to upset a certain gentleman known to this blog, no end. It looks like he has had the final laugh at my expense. One last question. If I have been photographed and perhaps followed home, has my privacy been invaded? I know that we are all photographed a hundred times a day these days, but the purpose most of that is for security and is used to detect possible crimes. As far as I know, I was not committing any crime by posting a match report on a blog.
I think you're reading too much into it pal, all this cloak and dagger is in..... your head rather than actual fact, sorry mate but let it go.
I'd guess they got your name from here and identified you from a previous academy game, whether a photo or not.
Sometimes wonder whether this board is worth it with the paranoid, vindictive nutters you come across. Totally over the top reaction.

So don't be too paranoid. it's easy to find stuff out about people with unusual surnames. If you were called smith it might be more difficult.
Unless 'Smith' turned out to be a fake name and he was a double agent and master of disguise. I'm just saying.
Got your first name - your real one. 10 minutes on Google. Probably get a lot more if I spent 70p. I'm going to stop now in case you do me for stalking.
RE: Got your first name - your real one. So we can conclude that someone at the club has spent at least some time sussing out Red Rain's details and then has singled him out just for posting reports on here? How can that possibly be allowable? Unless I've got this wrong and Red Rain posts his reports somewhere else that makes money out of them. It's an absolute disgrace. Does this mean that I cannot go to a (first team) game and then comment on here about what I've witnessed? I'd contact the club but with clowns in charge what is the point?
Yes, you do have it wrong... the accusation wasn't that he made money out of them rather that he apparently (although I can't really remember this) was scathing about the poor darlings who have failed to produce one player good enough for tier two football in the last 10 years.
RE: Yes, you do have it wrong... Don't actually think he was ever "scathing". All we have then is an example of childish and vindictive behaviour from a club employee. Although, at least they were efficient and effective in what they did - probably not paid by the club then!
