Is it the best kept secret this year that this month has been unbelievably not very wintery watsoever? How many times have you had to use the anti-freeze? Seems like no one on the news/weather mentions how unusually warm I suppose it has been for this time of year? Thoughts?

It has been unseasonably warm for January, and I haven't used the anti-freeze once, but then I don't cos I keep my car in the garage

You wouldn't be saying that if you were here. It's been very cold and icey for 5-6 weeks. Although I am not complaining. It could be worse just ask Calgary or freezing tyke.

At its coldest -18c .this last week about -5c. So it's warming up a bit :)
Had to cancel a few soccer practices as 10 year old girls lungs can't take breathing that cold air in for a hour every Saturday.

But the powers that be seem to want a winter break, to facilitate Arsenal/ Chelsea/ Man City/ Man U/ etc some "rest". Or some contracts in the Far East.

Given that we can actually have snow here any time from November to April, I think the Winter break idea is flawed. But then again, who am I to come between a Man Utd mid season tour to South Korea, or a Chelsea tour of Dubai?? All in the name of a winter break, you understand.

Blimey that is cold. I don't mind it cold per say, I can handle the cold, but not sustained temperatures of sub-zero day after day. I think it would wear me down after a while.

Anyway all the best redarmy - you watching the American footy Sunday? I will be - I'm still going for a Seahawks - Broncos SB.

Sssh! Don't mention this to the climate change denying UKIP loving, Romanian haters. Prediction was for warmer, wetter, stormier winters for the likes of us as a general trend as a result of climate change, if we provide any evidence for that they'll have a breakdown. I blame Asylum seekers personally.

What ya saying? It's been unseasonably warm here. One of the warmest Januarys on record, in fact. No polar vortex here. Today almost broke a record for the warmest ever January 18th in Calgary as it was 13C. Maybe warmer than Barnsley, I don't know?

Mind you it is normally bl00dy cold at this time of year. Temps of -25C or worse for a day or so are not unusual in January. Just not this year.

13 degrees was warmer than Barnsley, Calgary. I think it was about 5-6 degrees C yesterday. Still mild for the time of year mind.

Still got summer plants flowering that should have been dead a couple of months ago, while the bulbs that shouldn't be up until April are already well through. We haven't had a winter. Summer lasted until October and since then it's been autumn.

    Good

And, personally speaking, I hope it continues like this until the Spring, as I hate the snow & ice. Also, when it snows I can never get my two dogs back inside. They love the stuff, whilst at the same time I'm grumbling, chuntering and generally behaving like Dodworth's Victor Meldrew!:D:D

You mean you only put antifreeze in when it gets cold strange.it helps your engine cool in summer and stops corrosion you should have antifreeze in all year round!
