Steve Evans. Hate the thought personally but impressive record from 701 games.

Haha good shout. Would split the fans with his weird behaviour. Although I don't think he'll come considering we could be swapping divisions with them! Christ, how bad does that sound? Rotherham in a division above.

He's got a good managerial record. I wouldn't mind us interviewing anyone who gets his teams winning as many games as Steve Evans does. I'm not saying we should employ him, but if he applies for the job we should certainly do him the courtesy of offering an interview and hearing what he has to say.

Incidentally, Micky Mellon has a win ratio of over 50%. Only the likes of Arsene Wenger, Alex Ferguson and José Mourinho can eclipse that. The job he did with Fleetwood was incredible. People would call his appointment the cheap option, but with the record he has he should be given due consideration.

Do any of you suggesting Steve Evans actually know anything about him and what an objectionable individual he is?

Paul Cook at Chesterfield? While we're naming local managers.

The best lower league manager (other than Keith) out there is IMO Paul Tisdale.

But Mickey Mellon's in that same mould so I see little point in it.

Experience needed. For me at least.

YES! The Tisdale bandwagon is gaining traction.

I don't, I've no idea. I know next to nothing about him. I looked up his statistics and they were very good. I'm not suggesting he should be our manager, I'd like Danny Wilson and I think Micky Mellon should also be considered, I just think anyone with a record as good as his should be at least spoken to if they are interested in the job. I doubt he would be interested though, he's got a job that he's doing very well in, at a club that are on the up. I don't know what we could offer at the moment that's an improvement on that.

Is he a wrong 'un then? What's he done?

And that's the overt part. Most hated man in League Two football when he was at Crawley and Rotherham. In the When Saturday Comes fan preview everyone's least favoured club was automatically whoever Evan's was managing. Plenty of stuff out their on his conduct in the infamous Crawley - Bradford affair.

He may get results (with money) but I really can't accept the ends justifying the means.

Evans is a loathsome character, as well as a cheat.

Regarding Mellon, I've just read a Fleetwood forum from the time he was sacked, and their fans were all happy. He was playing 4-5-1 and it was dire, negative football, so they say.

    Strange.
