That's the law that some countries have so anyone smuggling drugs knows the possible consequences. I'm not saying it's right to shoot them dead for the crime but they are aware that that is a possible outcome.
I've read afew books about English prisoners in foreign countries and the stuff that goes on in these prisons is unbelievable. Recently read one about San Antonio prison in the jungle in Venezuala. The prisoners were having gun & grenade fights between each section of the prison. All the guards do is make sure no one ecsapes and sod what happens inside. How on earth do they get guns and grenades inside the prison

we should send all peadophiles to that kind of prison, be cheaper to pay laos to house em for us then keep em over here, in their cosy rooms with satelite tv, books and pool tables

After watching Louis Theroux - A Place For Paedophiles, i think the Americans have the right idea. After they have served their prison sentence they get sent to a centre for therapy or treatment for an indefinate term, which can include voluntary castration. If the paedophiles do not take on the recommended treatment they do not get out. Infact some who had had treatment were not released as they were still classed as a danger.

The Americans do not have country wide laws like that, just city or state laws.

That place was in California I believe.

Not sure how we've gone from a British citizen, pregnant and facing the death penalty in a foreign prison to paedophiles though!

I think the worrying aspect in this case is that she has had no access to a lawyer.

After reading books on the subject it happens alot. The consulates don't seem to have much power either. Seems like once they've got you in their prisons you're classed as guilty before facing trial, and they drag out cases actually getting to trial for years in some cases. All seems very corrupt

imagine if she chose to get pregant knowing that it might get more sympathy at home and may prevent the death penalty. couldn't imagine what'd be going through her head
