Pointless. No need for a break. It's not exactly like we get weather severe enough to warrant it. Plus it's only a week!

Every year he’s moaned about the Xmas schedule and got his wish…

If the poor bairns need a rest, maybe they should use the close season for just that instead of being greedy ba stards and flying all around the world to play glamour "friendlies"

Think half of folk forget footballers are human.

At the ripe age of 26, I play 6 a side twice a week and my body’s battered for 2 days after each game. Imagine a full intense 90 minutes on a massive pitch, twice a week.

I’m expecting a ‘They should be able to play that many games on that much money’ - please don’t bore me with it.

Also expecting a response about champ/L1/L2 not having breaks - should they if the Prem do? Probably, yeah. Is moaning about it on BBS gonna do owt abart it? Probably not, no.

    You’re right.

You’ve only got to look at stats to see that players are running far more than they ever did when I was a kid. Every games intense.

Pre-season was effectively a piss up for many 20 years ago.

I’ve no idea how much the winter break helps but we’re running players into the ground.

Newcastle have been without 11-14 players for pretty much the whole season since September.

Man Utd’s been around the 8-10 mark for the past couple of months, Liverpool & Spurs aren’t far behind. There’s a reason it’s happening & all logic says it’s the amount of games & the intensity they’re played at.

If anyone involved in the PL as a player, manager or anything else wants a winter break, they should look for a job in a country that offers one. We shouldn't be changing how our league has always been to accommodate whingers.

Teams have much larger squads than they ever did many more substitutions to choose from rarely do they ever put out full strength teams in cup competitions unless they reach the latter stages. Pretty sure if you look at any season some teams are more adversely affected compared to others.

Personally not sure what a two week break would achieve surely it’s the number of games being reduced rather than effectively reducing rest periods to achieve a 2 week break at Xmas then loading games to balance.
