Why Marras all of a sudden?

    They've always been the Mackems.

It's like someone heard something on social media and everyone thinks they have to repeat it.

Common saying for them in exchange for mate.

    “Now then Marra” etc etc

Yes, I get that, but why are we all referring to them as that? Makes no
Know what it means, but why are our fans suddenly calling them that? Makes no sense. "the friends have lost 2-1 to Peterborough".

Mackems (a person from Sunderland) makes sense at least.

Well, we're not 6 fingered, flat cap wearing, whippet training Dingles, but it doesn't stop other teams calling us that...

It's only like calling Sheffield folk "Dee Daa's", isn't it?

I guess. It's just that up until about 6 weeks ago, we were calling them Mackems. Now for some reason, everyone in Barnsley is calling them Marras. Just find it odd.

When we started reading their forum and noticed the " teams like Barnsley" "tin pot" I think, could be worse you could be referred to as a Fritzl or Pikey..... oh wait a min, Dingle, it's just good old banter, nothing personal just a laugh
