</p> Threegenuine questions to those who do it.</p> What do you get out of it and wouldn't you like to see the lap of honour that other clubs get? Also do you think it's alright for a relatively small number to spoil it for the rest?</p> </p> </p>
I'd like to know too I haven't been banging on about it, but I'm someone who would very much like to see the players do a lap of honour so I can show my appreciation. OK, maybe not this year, but too many times in the past our chance to celebrate with the players has been spoilt by those that break the law. We should all be able to enjoy the occasion: players, manager, back room staff, directors and all the fans. Those that run on the pitch take away this opportunity. It happens every single year and it's becoming a real bore. Like Windy, I'd like to hear the answers to those questions.
It's tradition and it doesn't harm anything... ... and it's not as though you haven't done 34mph in a 30mph zone. Or something.
RE: It's tradition and it doesn't harm anything... Flawed argument and that wasn't the question. I assume from your diversionary response you cannot offer a reasoned and constructive argument in favour of people running on the pitch. S)
I think the police should grab some and arrest them and charge them with running onto the pitch and then ban em.Make a bloody example of them and maybe that might put the other idiots off doin it next year .On the other hand their so thick i dont think it would but all this its tradition lark is a load of bull **** lets see how many other clubs do it this weekend ,if we had got prommotion fair enough.
You forgot that the barnsley 'fans' Were actually just volunteering their services as extra stewards to control the Wolves fans. I'm not entirely sure why that required the goading of police horses or general walking around in our penalty area but it must have done. It's worked in the past though hasnt it, a few years ago against bradford we certainly stopped any trouble from the away fans by standing in front of them chanting racist abuse at them. That kept them well under control that did
'think the police should grab some and arrest them and charge them with running onto the pitch and then ban em.'</p> They already do that periodically. Can't you remember photos in the Chronicle and appeals for information.</p> 'all this its tradition lark is a load of bull **** lets see how many other clubs do it this weekend'</p> Think you will find it's being done allaround the country the last two weekends of the season. We had this debate last year and saw numerous similar scenes on Sky Sports News and The Championship.</p> Annoys me as much as anyone when they go on to the pitch and then won't get off, but we're hardly unique.</p>
Is it done all around the country after a crap season though? Or is it generally only done at grounds where the fans have something to celebrate? ie just made it into the play-offs or got promoted?
RE: Anyone? Just trying to understand the argument for doing it. nt well against wolves we were the first on the pitch after macken scored albeit only a dozen or so but the wolves fans will have seen it, i think they were always gonna go on the pitch though as promotion was involved and there was apparently near 500 wolves fans stood at the wall all game due to having fraudulent tickets?, secondly the majority of our fans who run on the pitch are about 7 - 16 yr olds with a hundred yobs on top how do you get the message through to them? and as for the police well what can they actually do these days? look at the G10 riots a few got a spanking and there is public upraw! we're too soft and pc in this country for our police to convey any fear into the joe public, in other countries it would never happen because people know before hand if they mess around there will be consequences - a good paddling or gas grenades / water canons whatever!
Spot on. Plus - do you enjoy behaving like cattle? edit - and btw - the threat of getting points docked should be enough to stop people running on. We're absolutely within a gnats whisker of getting relegated, there is a chance (doesn't matter how remote) of points getting docked for that kind of behaviour, how chuffing selfish would it be for that minority to get the club relegated just so that they can run on to the pitch and wander around looking generally moronic for a while, before getting bored and going home. I for one would be a little bit pissed off with that.
