When people run on the pitch at the final whistle of the final match.......Do they.....

    1) go on the pitch to stab some one?

    2) go on the pitch to cut someones tongue out?

    3) go on the pitch to play hand slappy ?

    4) go on the pitch to get clippings off Bobby Hassells toe nails ?

    5) go on the pitch to plant cauliflowers in the centre circle ?

    6) go on the pitch to stone someone to death?

    7) go on the pitch to show passion for the club, congratulate the players, shake the players hands and generally have a fun time ?

All the players should line up then and 11,000 reds fans should file past to shake their hands.

Or we could all act like intelligent followers of a professional football club and stop in the stands so the players can do a lap of honour and everyone can then show their appreciation.

'Remaking Barnsley' - not until some people change their small minded insular attitudes.

    I don't know mate. That's why I'm asking.

Assuming you're trying to say it's the last one then the question still remains - do you think it's ok a for the few to spoil it for the rest?

They go on the pitch because they are kids and they don't engage their brain.

Its forgiveable when they're something to celebrate, but when we've conceded a late goal and in danger of going down, its ridiculous. Just shows that we have plenty of kid (or childish adult) fans at Oakwell who actually don't care that much about us going down. Last thing on my mind on Saturday was running on the pitch "to have a good time". Thats the only reason they do it- because they think its fun.

I've never run on the pitch at the end of the season..........

    ............its usually mostly kids anyway

So its good to see these kids running on the pitch enjoying the moment and its good that theres a tradition at Barnsley for the HOME fans to run on to the pitch at the end of the last match of the season

Did anyone see the last Norwich match.............fans stood there clapping like they were at a village hall play......no thank you !!!.........I'd rather have our tradition

    I didn't suggest you had.

Clearly the majority don't want it and would rather enjoy the lap of honour etc. Do you think it's ok for a few to spoil it for the rest?

I'd have said there was more a majority...

Either on the pitch or leaving because they didn't care. Just because the majority on here don't agree with it, doesn't mean the majority of Barnsley fans don't.

By the way I was as annoyed as anyone with it. I stayed till they all got cleared off and just as I was leaving there was an announcement that the players wouldn't be coming back out. Ace.

I'd rather see the young fans run on the pitch than a stale lap of honour..........

..............how many fans under the present circumstances would stop and clap and cheer a lap of honour

There's a bigger chance that the players would be boood off the field

Now that would set the team up with loads of confidence for the last match

RE: I'd have said there was more a majority...

There were a few hundred on the pitch, a small fraction of the crowd. Those who were leaving knew they had nothing to stay for.

I'm always puzzled by the suggestion that opinion on this board doesn't reflect that of mainstream Barnsley fans but, that aside, I think it's pretty way out to suggest that any more than a small few would ratherseea fewkids wandering around on the pitch than be given the opportunity to pay their respects at the last home game in the way that most other clubs do.

They weren't shaking the players hands

A few might have but most of them were just stood talking to their mates and a select few were actually goading police horses. Do you think that goading an animal is acceptable behaviour?

You've made it clear what you'd rather see Nudge.

Clearly the majority would rather see something else. So, again, do you think it's ok for the few to spoil it for the rest?

    Funnily enough...

I'm always puzzled by the suggestion that opinion on this board DOES reflect the mainstream Barnsley fans. Some people do, but then you have the extremism of folk like SuperTyke and DB3k, who I feel would love it if we went under. And the view that seeing as a few on here have said that they won't be buying season tickets if Davey is in charge next season means that thousands won't be is just arrogant. "Oh we on this board won't be so thousands won't be". Nearly everyone I know will still be attending next season.

And the stands weren't exactly still when the final whistle went. I'm pretty sure folk were still leaving in the same way they always do. But I can't really remember it right and haven't seen any videos. Nor do I really care. I just think that the running on the pitch thing gets blown all out of proportion.

So how do you think owning a computer and frequenting a message board....

...sets a person apart from everyone else in his or her way of thinking? Do you think all the "extremist thinkers" gather on here?

I don't doubt there were a few leaving when the whistle blew, everybody knew there'd be a pitch invasion and that would be it. The fact remains that the overwhelming majority would prefer to have a lap of honour, to suggest otherwise is ludicrous.

    two points

i'd hate it if we went under. I might complain a lot but that is down to one reason and one reason only, because i want the club to do better. I want the club that i support to have the absolute best success that it can have and when i see that those in charge are selling what can only be described as **** in the club shop then yes I will complain because they should be selling better quality merchandise and trying their level best to get as much money through the till as possible instead of settling for second (or 92nd) best and just writing off the club shop as a way of making money. Likewise when the club launches its new kit with a photo taken on someones camera I will complain because it is not the BEST that barnsley can do and i want the best for the club.

That goes for pretty much everything with regards the club, from accepting second best from the official site to second best on the pitch. I just feel that if we are going to bother to have a club then surely we should strive for the very best? Or at least a damn site better than we are getting at the moment.

On another note, quite a few around me that normally go straight after the game stayed behind for 10 minutes waiting for people to get off the pitch so the players could come back out

Changing the subject but does anyone know how DJ Fatty Boy went on with his visit to the club? I remember him saying that he was going to present some ideas for improvements in merchandise for the club shop

    I don't...

But have you ever heard of adverse selection?

I just don't see why everybody whinges on about it. Fair enough say what you think but to still be banging on about it now, 5 days later, is a bit OTT.

RE: So how do you think owning a computer and frequenting a message board....

So the typical Barnsley supporter is one who has a PC and has the time and the inclination to spend large chunks of their day typing nonsense on message boards. That will be why there is only a couple of hundred of our 10 to 11,000 regular supporters logged on here at any one time. You will be telling me next that the proportion of pedants on here reflects society in general as well. I hope not. Can't remember anyone dissecting everything I say and correcting me in the real world. The majority on here are geeky people, making geeky comments. They are not typical of our fan base. So why should their views also be typical. Larger number of liberal minded, lily livered, unprincipled buffoons than I come across in day to day life.
