when every team we played against and lost said we were one of the best footballing sides going. We were looking relegation certs. until we signed andy payton and he banged the goals in to keep us up. Get a striker who can score and we'll be okay. I hope
I think you could be right... problem is though, where are we going to find this saviour of a goalscorer? Seems long gone where you could snatch a good 'un from a lower league for peanuts...all the players doing the business in the lower leagues would no doubt be out of our budget, as it seems, is every player out there!
should have spent that 500K and fetched in Chopra - we would be flying now. WHY WHY WHY were the board prepared to risk the health of the club on Windass in League 1 and they wouldnt even talk to Chopra?? I think i know! To get him pre-end of contract they had to pay soe dosh for him - GS is tighter than a camels arse in a sandstorm. Im so fecked off him its untrue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RE: I think you could be right... Exactly mate! ...We just need to sack Ritchie tho, everything will be better under someone else, he'll bring that striker in, NOT.
me dad reckons (and he's not often wrong) that Hassell is crying out to be used as a sweeper, to shore up the defence, in 5-4-1. He could have a point you know.
RE: should have spent that 500K and fetched in Chopra - we would be flying now. got it in one,the bloke won,t part with the reek off his ****,i,ve had a season ticket 15 years and if we go down again to league one that will be it for me.nobody can say they haven,t had my support over this time but to let the situation drift on as it is cos this guy won,t part with any money is ****** and i,ll find summat else to do on saturday afternnon!
Thats the thing I can't see how a new manager could realistically improve things much or at least enough to make a difference. We really need some new blood in the playing staff though, as well as maybe a new coach or 2 to freshen up the training and give Ritchie a hand, it just seems we'll struggle to strenghten without a little money being spent. I do trust Ritchie's judgement however and think the right players will come when available/affordable.
agreed - Sort it Gordy before you lose 5K customers! i know were not alone in thinking this. Were blowing a perfectly dooable opportunity to do well in this league cos GS has no ambition or idea how to run a football club. ive stuck with them through league 1 and been bored to tears for years. Not again! Sorry!
Chopra was never even an option. Was never coming back. From the horse's mouth, almost. Cardiff wages the key - on par with his salary at Toon. Anyone who thinks we "missed" out on him is completely misguided
Well said Micky also if we'd offered £500k cardiff would have started a bidding war which they would have won.
RE: Oh aye Take my word for it. Asked or not, he was never coming. This flawed logic is worthy of Dragon Tyke - even though Chopra was never coming back, the club didn't ask, so sack the board. Brilliant!!!!
Well tha can spout all the unsubstantiable claims in the world.
Fact is if we had offered the correct deal he would have been here.
Fact 2. We did not even ask.
The board, Richtea & the players fully deserve the criticism at the moment because any gimp with an ounce of sense could see after January last year that the squad we have was/is incapable of sustaining a successful (surviving) Championship season.
July / August was the time to act.
They took a big gamble and its looking increasingly likely that they have fecked it up big style.
Chopra or no Chopra.
