Anyone else noticed it is getting slow over the last couple of weeks? Pages just hang like they used to on the previous site. 42 seconds from hitting the 'New Post' button to starting to type. Can't we get rid of all the new features and get back to it being a simple, but fast, forum? Losing the will to live some nights.

vBulletin doesn't seem to be moving forward. Invision's IP.Board might be a stronger option for the future

IP Board would be my recommendation too, although they are now starting work on 4.0 called Social Suite. Be ages till that comes out though.

I've set a few phpBB's up for people in the last few months and I'm impressed with how it continues to evolve in comparison to vBulletin which hasn't changed an awful lot, ultimately though the performance of a forum (especially a busy one like this) is all down to the server resources available.

The BBS has been a lot better than it was in the past although in the last few weeks it's been behaving a bit weird for me.

Do the 'extra features' use up server resource? Because this site gas been slow since all the new quote/notification/facebook stuff was added. Or is it coincidence?

It`s like wading through treacle at times and seems to go AWOL when we get quite a few extra bods viewing like after match on Tuesday.

We've moved to a new server that was supposed to be better than the previous supplier. Faster and more reliable (and more expensive). I raised it with the company the other day and said they had done something to increase capacity. Will chase again.
