I don't think people understand... The meeting was OPEN as discussed... people who go to the meeting are free to pass that information to friends etc via email/PMs or whatever... PC and SD have clearly tried to be open and give us fans extra information than they want to be known outside of Barnsley which is fantastic. However, when this is about potential signings/deals that are nearly in place, it's obvious why they don't want it going on a public messageboard, as, ala Colace, other clubs could get wind of it and steal a march. So we can either get told nowt unless it's done - then everyone moans we're obviously not trying to sign anyone - or the club can be open as they were last night and ask for people not to post the stuff on here. I've had 3-4 people already fill me in on what was said and I don't even live in Barnsley and know a huge number of people. 99% of people on here will know someone on here who went, or someone who knows someone who went so ask them what was said. Simples.
Can't brlieve you put that far too sensible! Its beyond comprehension that some people seem to think that they have been virtually sworn to secrecy after being let in on some ultra sensitive info .FFS for any faults he might or might not have (depending on your opinion) SD is not totally stupid. How many times do you hear people in any walk of life say I was sworn to secrecy so dont tell anybody I told you etc. In short nobody says anything in that kind of meeting and expects it is going to stay within those four walls.
any chance of p.m.ing us that wern't there? and telling us the juicy gossip? won't tell anyone honest!!
I confess I'm a moaning barsteward Ask anyone I work with or anyone that sits with me at a match, but I usually have a reason to - I just think people like complaining about everything BFC. If you believe some folk, Davey wants us to go down, doesn't want to sign any players, tells lies about where deals are at etc etc etc. I'm sure he'd love to have lots of better players and be near the top of the table, why one earth wouldn't he? Look how long the Darren Bent deal's taking as an example of how much transfers drag these days.
Most clubs know a hell of a lot about other players at other clubs, and their targets. I do believe some get wind of some players first and for a small club like ours this could be a real advantage before those lovely agents start touting their "assets" all over the place for a better, bigger deal. To suggest that this forum could cost us signings is clever on Sd's part but laughable otherwise. For what it's worth I fully back em but we will need players in, and everyone inluding the management team knows that. Im sure his targets will materialise but time couls be important here.
WHAT? You're telling me that the main benefactor and the manager hold an OPEN meeting and then tell you all to keep it a secret. It gets more pathetic by the minute.
Laughable are they that naive to think the meeting wasn't infiltrated by non-Barnsley fans. The meetings contents will now be known by every sports hack as want it, and likewise player agents etc.How is that keeping it from other clubs.Absolute nonsense
Other clubs will have infiltrated the meeting? Really? Yeah I can just imagine if we hear that Reading are having an open session with Brendan Rogers and John Madejski we'll send some scouts down to listen to the meeting. For goodness sake.
No dafter than managers reading the BBS to find out who we are signing and the beating us to it! FFS!
be sensible now you know full well what I mean, the Reading example is plain ridiculous.BUT people from the local clubs could have been there.
Not as ridiculous as your suggestion in the first place Wind it in and someone might 'fill you in' on the news...
