The article doesn't really say to much. He is in Barnsley for a week, and if both parties like what they see he'll be available to sign right away. He played for Tromsø in the top division in the 2015 season, but struggled a bit and was loaned out to Sogndal, which won our second tire. They wanted to keep him, but he didn't want to make up his mind about the move as quick as Sogndal wanted. I must admit I haven't seen to much of the guy myself, but he has played at a fairly high level (if you can call the Norwegian PL that), and he as also got on international cap, although that was with the "B"-squad. I remember him being a bit of a hot shot in the NPL when he first came through the ranks at Tromsø. Still at only 23 years old he could be a shrewd signing for Barnsley. It's not to often I see Norwegian players in a Barnsley shirt, so I hope this work out, and that I see him when I attend the Bury match in February!
If it's the right money then it's no different to signing a 23 year old from the Conference. I'd take him, if its being on the right fee and wages. Like you say could be a shrewd signing.
I remember the Norweigans bigging up Marcus Pedersen who had clear ability but an attitude that stunk. Hopefully this guy isn't stuck up his own backside.
I remember the last player we signed from the Norwegian second tier. I hope he doesn't represent the general standard.
I spoke to a few people connected with the club at the time and they were all slagging him as a person. The way he strolled around in vital matches including Boro away said it all really. He thought coming here would propel him to the Prem so he stopped trying towards the end.
Certainly didn't show that with us! I don't know why that performance in particular but leaving Hillsborough after Frimpong's first game when him and mellis were sent off I was seething with him, only player on the pitch that seemed to not care one bit when everyone else was busting a gut to get a result. I had had a few ales so may be mis remembering mind
