Obviously not. We been told we will no longer accept peanuts for our players. Yet someone makes an offer for our manager 'head coach', we jump at the first sign of a bit of compensation. BFC owe Lee J nothing, Cryne stuck by him when 99.9% of clubs in the world would have sacked him. It wouldn't have been harsh of PC to tell Bristol to **** off, and im sure LJ would have been professional enough to get on with his job. This latest situation says to me that the only reason we kept LJ was because we couldn't afford to sack him, otherwise Cryne would have made yet another mistake and sacked him before Xams. Then ironically when it turns out we have actually got a decent manager and out fortunes have changed PC does **** up and allows LJ to speak to another club with 2 years still remaining on his contract Nothing has changed
Every player has his price. That applies to managers too. I honestly don't think it's worth getting upset if he does leave. Johnson's time here can be broken up to four periods. The initial positive run of results, the poor run of form that led to us missing out on the playoffs, the abysmal set of results before Christmas, and this current upswing. It is no coincidence that the good times happened when we had two players in O'Sullivan and Hammill that could be considered the best in the division. The poor runs of form were marked by a lack of invention and tactical ineptitude. If LJ does leave I won't shed any tears. He is not irreplaceable by any extent of the imagination. If Patrick has decided that we can continue without him then I am happy with his judgement.
Can't agree with that. IMHO Mr Cryne has done the honourable thing. No one in this world should be forced to do a job, even if it's a very good one that his highly paid. Even if they have signed a contract. If Lee should leave, we will be financially compensated for that contract being broken. Everyone should have the right to make decisions about their future for themselves, not have it dictated to them by an employer. Patrick has given Lee that right. And how do you know how loyal your employees are if that loyalty is never put to the test? It's now being tested, we'll soon see the outcome. I have no criticism of Mr Cryne or the board in any of this.
I agree If LJ says he wanted to speak to Bristol then how can the directors stop him. LJ has finally been able to turn things around - but for a while I thought we were heading for relegation - and if we were, then if I were Patrick Cryne I would have sacked him. LJ seems to have a good relationship with the players so it would be a bit of upheaval for him to go now - but I have faith in Maurice Watkins when it comes to times like these because Maurice has the contacts to gather the information required to appoint a good replacement manager
Now it's clear that Johnsons ambition is money before football I keep wondering wether he tried to engineer his own sacking and cash in on a 3 year contract. Did the management suss this and call his bluff? Now as we on the crest of a wave Johnson has had to cash out or be stuck with his current contract for another two years. Thats as soon as he picked up his Wembley bonus wonga of course. Sent from my twilight phone.
Bit harsh on patrick cryne. If Lee Jay wants to leave why should we stop him against his wishes we want a manager who is 100% committed no manager is bigger than the club and it has been going over 125 years before Lee Jay so I'm sure we will be okay without him.
He had. Kept Johnson in a job for three months longer than was suggested. Refused to sack a family man at christmas out of principle. The board are faultess in this saga.
If money wasn't an issue he would have just said yes or no and we would have known by now. Clearly there is a negotiation indicating money is a major factor.by some accounts this has been going on more than the past 24 hrs.
It's the right thing to do both for Johnson as an individual and for our board why keep a disgruntled employee when someone will offer to pay you to take them off your hands. The board have done fantastically well over the last couple of months.
Everton held firm with Stones. We could have done the same. And seen what happens. Who says he's disgruntled? If LJ didn't anticipate being here for 3 years then why sign a 3 year contract? Contact termination works both ways though of course..
Come on that's totally different. Stones is an England international that they're not going to be able to replace easily. Do we really think there isn't another person who can step in and manage a league 1 team with a relatively big budget for the division? Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Everton have 2344556788 quid zillion pounds of Sky money. 3 years ago Stones would have been gift wrapped and dropped off personally at Stamford Bridge by Bill Kenwright. We don't have quite the same income. It's not about being disgruntled necessarily. He's been offered a better job. Like you or me he should gave the freedom to consider it and decide what he wants to do. It's the right thing to give him the opportunity. Contracts in football are almost meaningless as our last 787654 managers will tell you.
