I'm neither a constant critic of Davy's nor an rose-tinted specs admirer, but to single Bobby Hassle out as the person who changed the game on setdy is wrong in my opinion.
Yes he had a positive impact, but lets not forget the man he replaced (Leon) had had a bit of a stinker. In my opinion the game mainly changed why KO came on and started to win the aerial battle we had hoplessly been losing up to this point. He caused panic in the Derby defence. It seems to me that Davey is trying to point score about the recent criticisms of BH playing in midfield. If he is going to take on this seemingly I told you so attitude, then he will surely trip himself up. He should just concentrate on the results/performances, get these right and then he'll find that there aren't many critics to go chasing after.

Disagree, Bobby was fantastic when he came on after Leon was awful!!! He has taken enough stick about Bobby, I for one thinks Bobby has done a very good job for us in midfield 90% of the time while Anderson is injured!!

People should realise just how much Bobby has done for us since he came, he's been a great player for us!

I'm not knocking Bobby. I agree

Bobby hasn't deserved most of the criticisms he has had. My point is, he replaced a player who had a stinker on setdy, therefore he didn't have to do too much to have a positive impact. yes he played well, but for me the turning point was when KO came on and gave their defenders something different to deal with which they clearly couldn't cope with. davy is using Bobby to have a go at his crtitics, and that is not the way to do things.

Davey is showing support to one of his players that has had a lot of stick, he's shown the same support to KO and people still
give Davey a hard time about it ?

he's showing himself up in this though..

As I've already said, Bobby was not the turning point in this game. KO was. For Davy to come out and basically imply that Bobby was the sole reason why the game changed is pedantic. I've no problem with a manager defending any of his players, but in this case he has gone about it in the wrong way.

I guess it came about due to the stick he's taken for playing Bobby in that role. Saturday showed now and then he CAN be a good player for that position

Absolutely.. but he should drop this type of attitude.

He's just showing himself up in my opinion.

Bobby should not be played in Midfield!!!! He is not a midfielder......he is a full back!

Saturday showed Davey was right to start the season with Bobby in midfield, moving Leon into midfield with Howard is something that I
was hoping Davey wasn't going to do maybe pressure from the fans made him do it.

Leon had been playing well though..

saw him against Coventry and thought he had a good game. Didn't go to away games but by all accounts he's been impressive.

True, that's how it's sounded to me so far. But did nothing on Saturday. Very ineffective unfortunately. Seemed to have an impact on Howard too, let him move forwards more, instantly noticeable

I know he's been playing well but if the defence are under more pressure because the midfield don't get back to cover then we blame Moore and Souza
for everthing, when its the balance of the team thats at fault.

Agreed, there was nothing to stop them bombing through the midfield against Derby. We did seem very lightweight in midfield, and he added a bit of toughness and bite in the tackle

The defence needed a bit of support and he did that

I didn't realise Bobby had received a load of stick...

...merely people pointing out he's not a midfield player and is a poor option in there. No one has said he's a bad defender. Some very very defensive attitudes on here.

You are entitled to your opinion about Saturday's game.

So is Mr Davey. Or seemingly not.

If Mr Davey believes that Hassell can do a job in midfield, apparently he's not supposed to say so nor explain why he thinks so.

Following this logic, he's not supposed to provide an opinion on how anyone played, good or bad, not single anyone out at all, for fear of you disagreeing with him and thus making himself look like an idiot.

Fair enough.

No my point is..

he used this poor example to try and get back at the criticisms (rightly or wrongly) of playing BH in midfield. Yes he did play well when he came on. But the turning point in this game was when KO came on. Davy implied it was solely down to BH's introduction, that simply was not the case.

RE: No my point is..

Everyone knows SD talks ******.

Everyone knows Bobby isn't a good midfielder, but a decent, hard working defender.

For SD to claim he is based on a cameo performance as a sub when there are umpteen examples of how that tactic has failed in the past is surely not pulling the wool over anyone's eyes.
