Thought I understood the Euro 2012 Group stadings until Tonight...

    Italy have Drawn with both spain and croatia, all have beaten Ireland if results stand

    Spain put 4 past Ireland but find themselves second in the group

    I know the main factor is head to head, but croatia, italy and spain would have all drawn

    or have i missed something

    Pretending ireland aren't in the group for a minute Italy drew both their games 1-1 which means that they have scored 2. Croatia drew one 1-1 and one 0-0 so they have scored one. Same goes for Spain which is what puts Italy at the top

    lol it just explained itally have scored the most goals between the top 3 teams

    I was thinking the exact same thing!! So if teams are on joint points it goes on goals scored rather than goal difference??

    They look at the last time each of the countries played ROI and that decides it, GD, GS then GA. Something like that knowing UEFA.

    It goes on the fifa rankings but if they both have the same points in the fifa rankings then it goes to the fair play league and how theyve done in that. If even that is even then we get what I think is the best bit.

    If by the end of tomorrow night England and France were both inseparable (for example) and have the same rankings, fair play and everything then they would toss a coin for it. But if England and Ukraine were inseparable then it would be a penalty shoot out.

    So if two teams playing each other in the 3rd game are equal its a penalty shoot out but if they play each other first or second then its a coin.

    I like this, FIFA have made it so the real entertainment is just trying to work out who goes through and nothing to do with watching the games.
