Not read all of the posts on the BBS this evening, although ex-City Tyke did keep me appraised on the train journey back from Kings Cross of the general feelings expressed - and I'm not about to criticise anybody who has aired their views. Football is all about opinions and those are never so diverse as when they apply to the beautiful game and to BFC in particular. But some positives and negatives from the game this afternoon... Positives... Brian Howard - class apart, covered practically every inch of grass (especially in the 2nd aif) and did all he could to get us the 3 points. MotM by a country mile. Dennis Souza - another assured display, even when he was pushed out wide left towards the end of the game. Andy Johnson - not rated him so far this season, but proved a point in the 1st half, to me at any rate! Destined never to last a full 90 minutes though. Christiansen - looked to have a decent touch on the ball once he came on as sub. Odejaye - pace and power, must have the confidence to have a shot on goal though. Dean Gerkin (the U's goalie) - thanks for the first pen. as there was no way Ode was going to score! A good point for the Reds - we ain't got a divine right to get all 3 against teams like Colchester. Negatives - when Colchester went down to 10 men, it looked as if we were still playing against 11. Only evened itself out when Reid got sent off. Still a lack of tactics on the pitch - we were caught between the devil and the deep blue sea at times, especially when Ode, Stan and Christiansen were up front. Lump it forward or play it down the flanks? Indecisive, I have to say. Ferenczi - sorry but, apart from one header that flashed over the bar in the 2nd aif, Stan was ineffective today. Mossto on the bench at £400k? Think we have to persevere with him until the rest of the team get on his wavelength. Muller - good goalie, commands his box - still conceded 2 goals (not his fault I hasten to add). Colgan was criticised last week when he couldn't be faulted with the 4 goals - so why should the Big Fella be any different? Kozluk - found wanting today. Some fans round us who were criticising the team, Davey and co, and saying we were headed for relegation. Get real - 2 games into the season, last year Colchester lost their first 2 matches (one against us) and look where they ended up. The next two games will be tough - Plymouth at home ain't a gimme - and the Baggies away doesn't fill one with confidence! Now just watch the Reds get all 3 points at the Hawthorns, Couple of final comments - Sheringham, I'd have him in my team at Oakwell like a shot. Can't deny experience like he's got and their equaliser was down to that experience. Had a right chelping session with Kozluk after he scored and rightly got booked for it! Big plus to the stewards outside the ground as well, searching bags etc., but exercised common sense with bottles of water and such like. Thank Christ for common sense! Talking to a couple of Derby fans on the train back tonight who'd been to White Hart Lane and were pleading for Nyatanga's return to Pride Park. Told them they could whistle until January at least.......................! Onwards and upwards - only 50 more points needed for safety!!!

RE: Thoughts from Layer Road. your comment on mostto Maybe his head is not right with what has happened back in Peru. I suspect this was more to do with why he was involved on bench only, keep him from dwelling, whilst acknowledging that he was understandably concerned about his homeland
