As a happy clapper I am disappointed and concerned by LJ's departure. Disappointed for Mr Cryne in that after sticking with LJ for what ever reason he as been **** on(I say Mr Cryne because without him in the dark days there may be no SUPER REDS today I have respect for anyone willing to take such a thank less task on) Disappointed because we as fans have to start from scratch listening to 'I need x amount of time to be in a position to push on' blah blah. Disappointed that after the teams recent run LJ didn't have the pride/curiosity/ambition/desire(insert whatever word you think) to see the job through to at least the end of the season. His stock would have been far higher at the end of the season with a trophy and play off place under his belt. I am concerned that in the short term it may hinder our play off push. I firmly believe we will do it we still have teams above us to play. If we appoint from within they can hit the ground running, they already know the players character which is vital in order to get the best out of somebody. I am going this afternoon and will try to place my usual 6-2 to the SUPER REDS bet. I said I was a Happy clapper. PS Not sure if any of this makes sense COYR!
More I hear about LJ and his relationship with Bristol City and their owner more I realise we were never anything more than a stepping stone until he could take that job. He's been in contact with their owner seeking "advice" since becoming a manager. Seems like he was always going to serve an apprenticeship then take that role. Good luck to the bloke. Waking up the day after really think this could be best for all parties. If his long term plan was never to build something at Barnsley he is better off there. PC doesn't sack someone. We get some coin in compensation, and hopefully a new Head Coach who can improve this very young, very talented squad both to the end of the season and then next. Next season, with the right appointment, could be very good for us! Throw in to the mix John Stones potentially going to Man Utd or City - and if there is a bidding war between Mourinho and Pep it could be fascinating, and lucrative. I am actually really chuffed for Patrick. He gets flack when all he wants is the best for Barnsley, at his own personal great expense, and for once his decisions against the vast wave of public opinion has been proven the correct one. Onwards and Upwards.
We shouldn't be too dissapointed with the fact a manager or head coach has left for another club. We have had a reputation for sacking managers of late. Loyalty goes both ways. It is however sad that in this case we have shown loyalty through bad times, yet he still leaves. Being philosophical, I believe that LJ was never a manager / coach who saw us as 'his' club. Just seemed to be his latest job. I'm pretty relaxed at his departure as I thought we would have been better with a change a few weeks ago. The last 6 weeks have been great, but remember we stil have the players (especially after the transfer window), the coaches, the back room staff and the fans who have made this good run happen. As such I'm now feeling good, looking forward to today's game and I'm ok with giving the current coaches a chance for a few games or more. Youuuuuu Redzzzzz
