In no particular order. Mostto. Scored an absolute cracker on Friday night, worth the six quid alone if you ask me. He looks pacey, but needs a good through ball from midfield. Only problem so far is that he's been caught offside a fair bit. Bruma. His girlfriend/wife is absolutely f**king gorgeous. Souza. Sign him. OK he's very much like Nyatanga in both build and style, but he doesn't half do his job well. Gets some important tackles in, is good positionally, and great in the air. Between him, Reid, and Nyatanga I reckon we can cope with any team who tries to play against us with two big centre forwards. Davey mate - give him a contract. Nyatanga. REALLY glad we got him back, gives an air of confidence to the defence. Ricketts. Tricky player, will give full backs grief but he does need to know when to pass the ball. So far though - more than happy to see him in the starting line up. Odebaji. Not afraid to get stuck in, has now scored 4 in 4. Will be interesting to see how he fares against Championship defenders. £200k looks like a decent price. Johnson. Mouthy. Punts the ball up the field in a pointless manner too often. So far I think I'd prefer to start with McCann or Togwell. Overall thoughts on the matches - we should/could have won today had Coulson not missed by less than a gnat's pube's width and Friday we had the ball in the back of the net 5 times but two offsides. OK they were non-league but pretty physical and not a bad team all things considered but the strikers proved they were all up to the job. The best thing about Friday? A pie was £1.10, you could buy a pint and sup it in the stands, and not a copper in sight. Just a nice relaxed Friday night out. I wish all football was like that. I'm not too worried about us "only" drawing against Rotherham today, to be fair we only conceded once we'd tinkered with the team and our liability of a goalkeeper was on the pitch (not Colgan). I'll be more interested in how we fare against Wigan, and definitely interested in seeing how we line up as I think, injuries aside, that we'll get a good idea of how Davey plans to shape the starting XI.
Agree with almost everything you said there apart from the liability keeper 'not colgan' bit. Letheren did well imho and colgan was ***** in first half when a ball is coming in he is always glued to his line, rotherham had two great chances from him doing this which they didn't take.
RE: I noticed Bruma's bird..... Bruma and his girlfriend were sat about 7 rows infront of us. Shes fit
no i didn't I just said I wasn't worried about us conceding cos we did so when he was playing, and we'll have Colgan/Muller between the sticks. So there.
Agree with virtually all your comments on the players. Too early to draw conclusions either way really... But my inital thoughts are that both Werling and Souza showed promise. Werling looks like a good attacking full back I've still to make my mind up about his defensive qualities? Souza looked good in the air and has some pace, I reckon i'd give him a deal. Ricketts looks tricky and has got a decent cross but must learn to pass. Thought the front two showed glimpses of quality but they didn't have the service today. Odi will cause defenders problems with his pace and power. I hope Johnson improves!
RE: Agree with virtually The important thing with Odi is his presence. I have no doubt that defenders hate playing against attackers with his build and height.
Werling I get the feeling he's a bit of a renegade who people will either love or hate. If they're the type of person who likes full backs to be attached to the ends of a flat back 4 then they'll hate him, if they like the Roberto Carlos "sod this I'm going to bugger off up the pitch" approach they'll like him. I suspect he might be left high and dry once or twice giving a right winger a free run down the flank, then 5 minutes later he'll put in an inch perfect cross to be stuffed in the back of the net by one of our strikers. Personally I think he's put in the effort and determination so far to give me enough reason to give him the (Y) but it's early days as we all know!
Maybe we play Werling at home and Kozluk away? I can see Werling leaving his defensive duties a bit too often I must agree and away from home we can't be having that. I can't remember us having as a good an attacking full back however since barnyard... but with pace.
'We only conceded when our liability of a goalkeeper was on the pitch' Suggests if Colgan had been on instead we wouldn't have conceded.
But Kozluk's a right back is he not? I would have thought our first choice pairing was Werling AND Kozluk? I suppose we could shift Kozluk to the left and put Hassell on the right if we needed to be more defensive. See that's the good thing about this season - we actually appear to have a choice of players and formations. We never had that last season - the first 11 virtually picked itself.
RE: 'We only conceded when our liability of a goalkeeper was on the pitch' It was a good strike for their goal.
