Heard the team news before walking down to the ground and my immediate concern was the centre of midfield. We we're excellent against Blackpool but I thought that was as much to do with the formation than with individual performances. Dawson and O'Brien, both very likeable but I fear if we're relying on that partnership for the rest of the season we will be struggling.

In their defence, I thought Blackburn we're very impressive in midfield. Cairney and Dunn were so comfortable and had so much time on the ball it was embarrassing. Their movement of the ball was far superior to ours as well. Danny changing from a flat four to a diamond did paper over the cracks slightly but as has been mentioned, that just gave their full backs free rein.

Positives....Obviously the goal, in fact Proschwitz's performance in general. He's not the quickest, or the strongest by the looks of it but he was a constant threat and very positive in front of goal. I said before the game that I'd have preferred 4-5-1 at his expense but that display was enough to warrant his inclusion. O'Grady was probably better, on his day he's the best target man we've had since Ships. Such a relief to know what when the ball goes up there it wont be coming straight back.

Digby made errors when he came on but can't fault him for positional sense. Danny had the spent the entire first half bollocking Dawson for drifting away from the 'holding role' in front of the centre halves. Slightly harsh in my opinion as their midfielders movement was pulling us all over the place and he got little support from Jim, Jennings or Shea defensively. Digby stood his ground and did the simple stuff well and I don't think it was any coincidence that their threat from midfield evaporated in the second half. Fully expect him to start at Hillsborough on Saturday (his physical presence doesn't do him any harm either)

Credit to Danny for making changes throughout the game that actually influenced the result and credit to the players for battling on in the second half. We may not have enough quality to get out of trouble this season but with that spirit and a good manager at the helm it at least gives us a fighting chance. You Reds.
