Just got back from the match, a really professional performance from the Reds today. I was very pleased. JCR ran his blood to water, showed a few great touches and had a solid debut. Good signing, when he beds in - he will be a star. Grant McCann - great to see him back in the team, he proved he should be playing today with a solid performance next to Howard, great distribution and a cool head. The back four (five with Muller) were IMMENSE, seriously - Souza (MoM) and Foster looked class, never look shaky and dealt with everything Scnuthorpe had to throw at us, both Kozluk and Werling played well too - Werling nearly killing one of the Scnuthorpe players when his rocket powered shot was blocked by the face of Jim Goodwin hehe. Anderson DeSilva - one word, QUALITY. Looks so comfortable on the ball and delivers some terrific crosses into the box. One particular free kick in the second half was brilliant, met by the head of Souza and he was unlucky to see it come back off the underside of the bar and out. Odejayi played very well, held the ball up, won the aerial battle and scored a very good goal, reminiscent to Neil Shipperleys goal at home to Sheffield United in the season we got to Wembley. Class. The opening goal was debatable, and farcical, but a goal is a goal - i'll take on of those every game. The defender went to volley it away, smacked it straight at his team mate and it looped up and over the head of the keeper, great stuff. The only negative was Ferenczi, a poor performance by his standards = did lots of running, put forth the effort but had very little impact. Was rightly subbed for Christensen. Great result for the reds, and a very solid performance. Things are looking good. UP THE REDS!!
More or less agree, but in the first half I thought Muller looked a bit iffy, crosses into six yarder and not coming, Kozluk knocking one out for a corner, Werling is not a full back, get him on leftside midfield and he is brilliant. Souza started shaky and then got better and better, Foster, you can see why we wanted him last season.Kozluk is getting better each game too. JCR Ok for a debut, will be a class player in this league. Kayode great match and a fantastic goal. CLEAN SHEET YIPPEE!!!!!!!!
Muller looked iffy? Do you just love Colgan or something? I know the criticism of Colgan was harsh, but Muller had one thing to do in the first half - and made a great save from Paterson. The only cross he left was one by Hayes, where he started to come before Kozluk called for it, and kicked it behind. Didn't put a foot wrong.
Also, thought Werling was excellent throughout, whereas Kozluk was awful first half.

I thought Souza ... ... was out of position far too often in the first half and also kept giving the ball away. With regard to the positioning I feel that was because we did not have a recognisable defensive midfielder, this meant Souza had to come into midfield to claim the ball that was played in behind our midfield thus leaving space behind him.
Ithink in the second half he was very good and did remain in position. I also feel Togwell is a must, why ?
well he can play the defensive role but is athletic enough to getback into position, he can also cover the defence to let them remain in position... but mainly it would allow Howard to play a more attacking role and do what he does best, feeding the forwards and scoring goals. At the moment he seems to be stifled by his defensive duties. Thought Mc Cann played well today as did Campbell rice in fact I think it was a decent performance from the team.
Also wasn't it Stan who hit the bar ?

RE: I thought Souza ... where do you sit mate, it really looked like Stan from where sit in the East stand lower.
Very pleased in general. More of the same would be nice - but it seemed to me that we only sparked into life after the first goal. Only nine thousand home fans? Not good.
DEFINITELY Ferenczi. Souza just missed the ball, Ferenczi ran in behind him and headed against the bar.
Sorry but I disagree with most of your observations. Scnuthorpe were (somewhat noticeably for an away side) running the game up until we scored. From our team, Souza was commanding, JCR and Odejayi quick. Muller was more confidence inspiring than Colgan. Howard was awful. The rest were lucky to be on the winning side. Thanks to the first goal.
The fact you havent mentioned Anderson as a positive is staggering. By far the best player on the pitch.
What game were you at? Ok, please elaborate - why was Howard awful? What did he do wrong? Scnuthorpe never bossed the game, NOT anytime. How you came to this conclusion beats me. Lucky? Where, at any stage of the game did luck come into it? Scnuthorpe were lucky it wasn't 3 or 4.
Did I mention Colgan???? NO, I did not, I said that Muller should have got the cross, I have checked and , no where in my post does it mention Colgan. I think its you that has the complex over him. For a keeper of his hieght he should not let any crosses go past him in the 6 yard box. FACT. Colgan was castigated for this , but it seems that its OK for other keepers, not only Muller, to do this.
How is his height relevant for a cross that went along the floor? Kozluk called for the ball, before realising there was a man behind him, panicking, and kicking it behind. I was sat right in line with it and it was plain as day what had happened.
LIKE I SAID A KEEPER SHOULD NOT LET A CROSS GO PAST HIM IN THE SIX YARD BOX . I dont know how many times you want me to say that , but its true, it does not matter if the full back calls or not. In that area the keeper is boss. HE should have dealt with it!!!
Well if we're shouting, YOU SAID "FOR A KEEPER OF HIS HEIGHT" - How is that relevant for a low cross? To be fair, you talk nonsense from what I've read recently, so its not worth arguing. Any excuse to be as negative as you can.
RE: LIKE I SAID excuse me, I sit ES lower roughly equidistant between the half way line and the North stand penalty area. In my view the ball across was in no way Mullers ball and Koslock put it out because he did not know who was behind him. Lack of communication, maybe.
I likre Colgan, but I think Muller is a better keeper.
