Overall we simply weren't at the races today - beaten by a better side on the day, regardless of the conditions or the linesmen or the fact we haven't got any money or whatever. Seemed a strange formation to me, Davies and Gray up top with Dagnall and Vaz the waz supporting from wider positions. I was worried from the start and with good reason, thought it left our midfield hopelessly light weight, I don't know what's gone on between Doyle and Hill but today was another illustration that Doyle is better than Addison in the holding midfield position. I guess if we can't afford players then Hill can't afford to jetison the likes of Doyle on a whim. Only player who had a decent game was Mcnulty, thought he was much better in midfield than Addison when they switched, he, at least can hold his head up.
The weather certainly didn't help the game, but it seems we played more long balls today than normal, just what you don't want to be doing in that wind - seemed a strange way of going about things - pass the ball about from the back then hit it long, if you're going to hit it long you need to do it early, no point in fannying about with it and then launching it, either launch it or play, strange, strange tactics.
Cant understand why Wiseman wasn't playing on the wing like at Leeds, would have been better playing wiseman and Done as the wide players with Vaz playing off of either Davies or Gray, I think Hill built his tactics around getting Dagnall a game - big mistake, word from within the Scunny coaching camp (I have my contacts) is that he's a grafter but "not an ounce of footballing brain" and I didn't see anything today which would warrent his inclusion ahead of Done.
Anyway well done to Millwall, they coped with the conditions better, they had some decent players - especially the number 8 and I think it was the 16 (might have been 6). Lets hope we pick ourselves up quickly from this.
