STOKE CITY.......sat watching game on tv last night and thought to myself.......

not so long ago we were competing on a level with them.

fantastic support and perhaps with better leadership we could have been in stokes position????

    VALENCIA V BARNSLEY...........could just manage that.

But historically a much bigger club, with a far greater fanbase.

I don't buy this argument "Oh, historically they are a much bigger club".
So what? It's irrelevant, as previous poster said, 10 years ago they were below us, that's the point. Same with Swansea, we beat them in 2006 playoff final but they overtake us.
What are we supposed to do then? Oh, we don't have much of an illustrious history so we can't aspire to anything, on the other hand, Sheff Wed, United, Huddersfield....they're ok cause they've had season in the top division years ago. Huddersfield must be a bigger club than us because they won 3 league championships before the war!
So it is possible that we could push on like Stoke did, then again I hate watching them, not pretty at all, they're like Wimbledon were.

I agree. No wonder the club sometimes seems to lack ambition when some of the fans do too. There is no reason at all why we couldn't get back to the Premier and possibly stay there for a little longer this time. No reason at all.

First season in eons that Huddersfield have had bigger crowds than us. They've been in the top 4 all season so you'd expect it. Prior to 1996/97 us and Bolton were always on a level playing field in terms of crowds and results. They went up and came down with us. Went up the season we employed John Hendry as manager and stayed there ever since. Trebled their support since the bad old days and maintained it.
