Bright blue football boots look horrendous.

James Bree has grown a foot taller.

If the majority of your signings are technically proficient midfield players, but you don't manage to recruit anyone with that cutting edge, your team will pass the ball about well, but will lack that cutting edge.

Marc Roberts looked impressive for someone who has spent his entire career at non-league level.

Marc Roberts is not called Marc Richards. Doh.

While it would be easy to say we got away with an undeserved victory yesterday, as Burton missed a gilt-edged chance (amongst a number of half chances), the opposition will miss easier chances this season as that's what happens at this level.

    So will we.

Marley Watkins is not the diminutive winger I thought we'd signed.

I prefer a boring game that we win than an exciting game that we lose.

I infinitely prefer a boring game that we win than a boring game that we lose.

I prefer a boring game that we win or lose to going shopping.

We'll play much better and lose.

We'll play worse and still win.

I no longer understand what benefits that some of the systems we play are supposed to bring.

    Football has moved on.

    Without me.

i agree with all of that. what happened to the days when i went to oakwell and watched football without worrying about what system and formation we played, now i seem to be obsessed with it. Over the last 1 and a bit seasons, ive seen better 'teams' with worst players than ours in it, dominate us. Why is this? Only my opinion but in the first half especially we had players who didnt really know what they were supposed to do. Bree and smith arent wingbacks or midfielders, they are just wide defenders. SSM looks 3 yard slower than last term. Also Its easy to be wise after the event but surely Jabo would have been a better option to wilkinson and watkins. On the plus side, weve now got the options of the best centre half pairing ive seen at barnsley for many a year, it is early days but i would like to see a bit more flair and attacking verve, but like i said, id sooner us win playin badly than loosing

We will be very lucky to play worse than that and win.

I have no idea what Marley Watkins is supposed to be.

Having see two games this season, I cannot see us troubling the top six.

It's going to be a long and boring season.

I don't know who looked more dispirited me or Winnall as he chased after another big boot down the by line instead of being in the penalty area where he can do his stuff. I remember the days when you didn't worry about systems or any of that ***** you just picked your best players and played them in their correct positions.

Marc 'Richards'. Tsk, tsk, tsk. You just can't get the staff these days.

I wear bright blue football boots.

    Purely because they were £8

I think we need to give Watkins a little more time. It's clear that he works hard and I thought that he grew into the game a little bit more in the second half when he was pushed wide. Winnall needs support, it's not his game to hoof a ball up to him when there is a centre back who is much taller than him man marking. Last time we played Burton we beat them 5-0 and SSW scored 3. I'm not surprised that they payed close attention to him. Needs support of a bigger striker in the 'Smith' mould. Saying that. I thought Bree, Pearson and the 3 centre backs looked very good. Scowen grew into the game. Burton were a good side who where very high in confidence.

Kind of agree but would be more in agreement if we had been boring in a 'boring boring Arsenal' kind of way rather than in a pretty clueless up front waiting an hour for a shot on target kind of way

LJ in his post-match post-mortem talked about the team needing some 'energy', which this lad from Donny should provide, plus JOS (hopefully) and a fit Ryan Williams.

I have bright, lime green running shoes. I love them.
