Which of the three thread display modes do people use? (you can change it in your Settings > General Settings > Thread Display Mode) I know that Gally (and the other admins?) worked hard to get the good old Threaded Mode to work, so I assume that that's what most people are using? I'm afraid that it's still not as good as it was on the old BBS though, scrolling up and down the list of posts and clicking every single post to read them is a lot of work (especially when most replies are very short), so I'm using the Linear Mode instead, with the oldest posts showing at the top and the newest ones at the bottom - that's how most other forums on the Internet work. I think that's a lot more practical approach as you can read all the posts without having to click each one of them. There's one problem with the Linear Mode though. Since the posts are sorted by their posting times, it's sometimes hard/impossible to tell who's replying to who, because the posts are displayed in a different way for people who are using the Threaded Mode... That does make the forum a bit confusing and unreadable sometimes, so I think it'd be a good idea if we all had to use the same display mode. Which one should it be though? My vote goes for Linear Mode as I'm used to it now and it's also used on most other forums, people would only have to learn to use the quote function and it'd be perfect! Any thoughts?
I agree with you and the 'threaded' view doesn't even work at all on my android phone, I don't know about anyone else. Still needs a proper threaded view in my opinion.
Hybrid. You can check the thread at the top to see who has responded where then scroll down. Would be great if the linear mode could be indented in some way though for responses.
Gally had a full threaded mode addon made, which no longer works since the vbulletin update. was supposed to look like the old bbs, It wasn't ideal anyway as it didn't change colour etc when you looked at a thread. Personally I much prefer linear mode.
I think it might be a little annoying to scroll the screen left and right (and up and down) when you're reading a thread that has a lot of replies, especially for those who read this BBS on a mobile phone.
Linear. Used to that from other forums/bbs and it just makes most sense for me. Not sure I could use any other mode for any length of time.
