Our squad is looking thinner and thinner all the time (N) (N) (N) http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10309~1739327,00.html
Injuries can't be helped but if we had signed more players by now it wouldn't have affected us as much.
Dreamy I have defended you on many occasions on here as you know. You're a decent kid, but on this occasion, I regret to have to inform you that you are posting garbage, in my opinion. It's plainly obvious that the club are doing their utmost to sign decent players, with the emphasis on "decent" rather than "players". Davey has signed loads of players in the past, some of which have come off, others haven't. What makes you think that he has suddenly forgot how to sign players? Could it be that there are other issues which have slowed down the market for all clubs? We don't just need "more" players, we need better players, ones that are worth the wait however frustrating it may be.
how can u blame davey not signin gray at min and hammil or adam 1 adam int intrested with look of it 2 as u seen they gotta wait on takeover at charlton and finnally liverpool wanted a look at hammill
RE: Dreamy If we need better players instead of just "more" players would you say Preece and Sodje are better than the ones we let go for not being good enough?
Errrr...I'm not blaming Davey!!! Or I assume you are trying to reply to Dreamy. You are right (if I have understood correctly!) it seems that all 3 transfers are depending on things outside Davey's control.
muller wanted to go end of day seen as was no2 like was said its not easy to find a gk whos happy to play no2 and with sodje give the lad time u never know he might be better than wot we have seen him 3 times and been very impressed in all 3 games with him
Difficult to say I've not seen either of them play, but I suspect not. We were never going to keep both Müller AND Steele so we needed a number 2, and Sodje is just a gamble who may or may not come off. I'm sure Davey would have signed Hammill in the dressing room at Plymouth at full time if it were possible. But we all knew Liverpool wanted to look at him in pre-season, and that seems to be exactly what is happening. Gray appears to be a done deal held up by the Charlton takeover, and Adam seems to be too far up his own bum. None of any of that is Davey's fault. Just be patient mate, that's all I'm saying.
I was impressed with Sodje as well. In 12 months time he could be a reight buy. We let people go with the hope of bringing replacements in who are better and because we are having problems doing so we now find ourselves a little light. Short term six month contracts to say Souza and Van Homoet could have worked out well. 1) Would give them a chance to impress for long deals. 2) Ties us over so we aren't left short on players while we try and bring in our targets.
This is my main concern. As good as Foster, Moore, Anderson & Hugo are, they miss to many games through injurys & suspension, and we lack quality cover in this (very important) area!!
end of day fraser we aint a clue what davey is lookin at i got told last week we been watchin a defender who played in serie a last season
I bet Preece is a lot better than Letheren! I'm not sure Sodje is comparable to anyone we released, but people have said he looks decent in pre-season, and he's only a kid
The players we let go didn't improve the team when brought in, everyone could see Leon had too many faults to ever be good enough, likewise V.Homoet, and Souza was just stupidly incosistent.
Davey is clearly trying for a better standard of player this season, and I for one and very thankful about that. We've seen how long some transfers have gone on for which plenty of clubs, how long did the Ronaldo deal take to finish for example?! I'm confident we'll see better players here in the next month

Kyle Letheren Not earned a contract yet with Kidderminster Harriers.... http://www.expressandstar.com/2009/07/22/fans-taking-note-of-new-harriers/
