With the summer holidays approaching it would be interesting to see what are three of your favourite places, other than Oakwell and your house? They can be an area, attraction, event, pub whatever. 1. Local (nearby) 2. National (your country) 3. International Mine would be 1. Derwent Reservoir and the hills around it, Derbyshire, 2. Kynance Cove on the Lizard Peninsular, Cornwall, 3. The Pic du Midi d'Ossau in the Pyrenees (France). I visit the first two several times a year and the third every couple of years.
1) Howden Edge, highest point in Barnsley - only kidding, actually it would be Kinder Scout, near Edale, Derbyshire. 2) Scafell Pike summit, lake district 3) Sölden, Austria
(1) - Scarborugh, I just love the Place (2) Ivanhoe Pub in Sprotbrough - Its a Sam's Smith pub and in the summer when the cricket is on Bliss, I get Beer and Sport, the wife can chill in the sun and the son plays on the park with other kids like "TYLER" (3) Belek in Turkey
Holkham Gap - Freshmarsh, pine trees and deciduous forest, sand dunes, saltmarsh, beach and sea, beautiful place, the dogs love it and it's only 10 minutes from where I live. The Scottish Highlands Antarctica - stunningly beautiful, a precious landscape that must be preserved at all costs, was there 2 years ago, off again next January.
1, ibiza (east side of the island, especially on the beach at cala llenya) 2, Cleethorpes, don't laugh, brings back so many memories when I was a toddler 3, York,
There'll be a few shrivelled up, sunburnt, owd cocks down there this weekend no doubt I love swimming in "The Run" off Wells.
1 The walk from my house to Birdwell across the fields skirting the edge of Wentworth Castle gardens. 2 Ambleside, Lake district. Pubs, restaurants, cake shops and a hundred walks to do right on your doorstep. 3 Santa Barbara, California. Stunning place.
1. The walk back to tarn from Penistone via Royd Wood, Blacker Dam, Hugset Wood etc. 2. Whitby 3. Not really sure but I do like the Ile de Re in France.
Thanks, some interesting places near and far. Must revisit some of the local ones again. Keep them coming. Never heard of Holkham Gap or been to Spilsby. Will put them on my to-do list. Ta.
Peyto Lake, Alberta Canada York and best of all, that sign for Barnsley on the Woodhead Pass when you come over from Manchester.
