I think many years back it was in Rotherham MBC and then it changed to Barnsley MBC. Im sure both MBCs would love to rearrange the local boundaries 'humberside style' so it ended up as one of the Leeds suburbs...............would fit in well with Harehills, Beeston etc.

    Confusion

I think the confusion arrises because the Dearne area (Thurnscoe, Golthorpe & Bolton) was always Rotherham as far as the Postal Address was concerned, but its always been Barnsley council etc. If you drive from Wath or Mexbrough to Bolton, you pass the Barnsley signs where you cross the River Dearne.

    The divide

i lived in wath and went to school in swinton, crossing that divide which also represented the switch from Tarn to Rotherham supporting. I was the old reds fan in school during the 70s.

I lived in Bolton and went to school in Wath (Grammar)

Most of the kids at WGS were Rotherham fans, I suppose it was because kids came in mostly from Wath, Swinton, Rawmarsh and even Park Gate, there were also a few Wendies, Blunts and Donnys.

Why, at what age did you attend school ?

I left when I was 18. Mind you it's different in Rotherham, raise kids first, attendschool later ;-)
