Thought it was more a less a game of two halves. We more or less got battered in the first half. We were pushed back deep for too long. Hudders dominated half but strangely enough we had best chance from Devaney who missed due to what looked like a bobble. Second half after we settled we looked great for 20-25 mins and looked more likely to score. Then we brought Wright and Hayes on and didnt. Great save by Colgan before the mix up which watching over again on video was Hecky getting in the way when Colgan looked to have just about grabbed ball. Dissapointed with the goal we lost to but i think Hudders looked a strong team and maybe just edged it on the night. Devaney played his best ever gane for the Reds. Think Shuker played his worst. Major problems include poor corners and unable to get crosses past the first man. Why? Mcphail and Howard were a bit quiet. Rico n Nads huffed and puffed but couldnt get breakthrough. Reid n Kay were a bit tentative and stood back too much. Hecky seems to be out of position a bit too often. Hassell had a reasonable game but i prefer him at centre back. Colgan did ok and made a great save before the goal. Overall we arent out of it yet but its gonna be tough. Hopefully Hudds will have an off night on Monday
Agree on the whole but I thought Huddersfields 20 mins "onslaught" was a result of deliberate tactical choices by both managers. HT were always going to come out with all guns blazing.
Richtea took a risk I believe and decided to soak up HTFC's attacks. Our midfield were playing very deep and it often looked like we were playing 6 across the back. It was a risky strategy but we rode the storm and after 20 mins or so they began to run out of steam and we gradually got on top.
We were definately on top in the second half as HT began to tire.
The substitutions were odd to say the least.
We gifted them a goal and bobs yer uncle.
I thought even with several underperformers a draw would have been a fair result.
My hope is that on Monday we just have a steady approach and get better performances from Shuker / Howard et al. Play well and theres a good chance we will get a goal before they do then..game on.
