I know Barnsley aren't alone in this, but ticket pricing is ridiculous, and something needs to be done. When I started coming to the well as a lad, and I'm only in my twenties, it was eight quid an adult five quid kids. To sit in the east stand, before the new ponty end and that was built. This was about 1994-95, maybe 95-96. In sixteen or seventeen years the price as gone up by almost 400% for games at the same level? That's an inflation rate of 25% - if my wages and the value of my house went up 25% a year I'd be ecstatic. And probably retired by 45.
Am I to assume its because the quality has improved? So Scott wiseman, jimmy Mcnulty and Matty done are four times better than nicky eaden, arjan de zeeuw and Neil redfearn?
**** me the club can't win can they, They bring in a manager to lower the wage bill, and all we here is, he's not good enough, he's not good enough, he's not good enough, he's not good enough, Benny ant got a clue and so on, what do people want ???????????? you cant have everything in life, Big wage bill or Cheap tickets you can't have everything its one or the other, and it will take time to sort out it cant just be done over night, i think with the amount of moaning on here and radio the club know they need to bring the ticket prices down but ffs give them chance it can't be done until the new season, and when all the big earners leave like, Steele, Jim O'b, Butterfield, Hassle, Foster & Doyle, don't blame the club blame the people that want cheap tickets because as i say you can't have both
And another thing why should other clubs fans benefit from us trimming our wage bill and getting rid of good players to improve the ticket prices, Barnsley fans have to watch our team struggle to over come injury patches due to having a small squad and sell anyone that looks decent and put up with watching cheep replacements until they improve and are sold again, so we can offer cheap tickets to other fans, its a joke and we're having the piss took out of us, so the club bring in a idea where they can offer Barnsley fans cheaper tickets wile still taking the maximum payment from away fans for a reasonable one off fee at the start of the season and still people moan, THE CLUB ARE NEVER GOING TO DO RIGHT FOR DOING WRONG ARE THEY ?
I think you'll find my post was about ticket pricing in general and not a stab at the club. But thanks for your reply.
Dont think you've read my other posts - as I've been very clear in my support for hill and the financial approach of the board. The point I was making is that thirty quid a ticket is excessive for a game involving two teams in the bottom ten of division two. And if you think I'm wrong look at the half empty ponty end and east stand, in a match against a rival who normally draws a bumper crowd.
I agree with you completely and its a general problem not just for Barnsley In the early 1980's I was a student in Liverpool and several times went to watch them in 1981 /1982 season when they had a superb team ( couldnt beat us at anfield though ) I dont remember how much it was exactly but it couldnt have been more that £2 or £3 or I wouldnt have been able to afford it. I doubt too many students can affort to watch the top Premiership sides these days If I compare the entertainment value of Barnsley in 1981/82 and with Liverpool 1981/82 with today I wouldnt say it had improved so ticket pricing really should have tracked inflation but we all know ticket inflation is many many times higher
In the pogrom yesterday there was a piece that said Evertons TOTAL wage bill in 85 when they won the league was less than £25k! Can someone say what that would be today?
I remember in the late 80s when i started going with my mates it was £1.80 to stand in the ponty, i used to get a fiver pocket money a week back then anall.. now our lass gives me a tenner pocket money a week, so she doesnt keep up with inflation does she
When did Jacob Butterfield sign a contract making him one of the highest earners? Nightmare, you put him on a par with Foz, Bob, Doyle, Gray and JayMac etc? Try the LOWEST earners category next time. Jeeez
totally agree about pricing I think its a big problem now (in football in general not just at Barnsley). The proportionate rise in price has been ridiculous, and its now being seen more and more in dropping attendances. We the fans are being asked to pay more and more to fund ludicrous wages for very average players. Its a different thing when you are talking about superstars that actually bring income to clubs but its now spread way beyond that.We are now at a stage where partisan supporters are querying if its worth it or if they can afford it so you can imagine how many casual/neutral fans who just liked to go to watch a game have fallen by the wayside.
he would be if he signed on again which he won't because we can't afford him due to the lack of money coming into the club the reason we'll lose him is purely down to money because he can earn a lot more then we can pay him hence him being a high earner KN0B HEAD
So he isnt a high earner then. Thanks for clearing that up. And great use of the limited vocabulary available to moronic people
You referred to him as a big earning player. He isnt, and wont be, as he wont be here. We will save on his current low wage, and recieve a fee set by tribunal. So no, I dont get your point. And again, resorting to childish insults is doing nothing to convince me you are of sound mind. Toodle pip
Butterfield is leaving because we can't afford him, its simple as that, he's going to be earning more then what we can pay, there for he's a big earner, and the reason we can't afford him is because we don't sell enough tickets KN0B HEAD
How retarded are you? Jake is not a big earner. Therefore, we arent SAVING anything. God you are dense pal
