Much as I should know better than to get involved in the great tickets-for-part-timers debate, what about those people like Tomi and **** (and I'm sure many others) who go to the effort to travel all the way to the UK when they can to take in a match or two? Presumably they're not welcome any more? Or should they have just made the effort to get to the Ipswich match at 36 hours notice? I'm also a part-timer. I'm sorry to admit it but a 13-hour drive each way and two days off work for Colchester at home on a Tuesday night just doesn't do it for me. I'm in the UK at the moment but as I was at an adoption meeting on the night of the Ipswich game I'll be relying on the help of a ST-holder to get me a Wembley ticket. But the fact I can't buy my own ticket does make me feel like the club views me and other long distance fans as second-class supporters, a view several posters on this BBS seem to share.
It's a real issue for a lot of people. I'm lucky enough that someone with a season ticket is getting one for me. I'm absolutely bricking it though that if we get to the final and they reduce the number of tickets per ST holder then I may not get one. Yes, I only go to 3 or 4 games a season tops these days, but then I do live rather a long way away!
No excuse It's still another country! Seriously though, the idea of real fans losing out to what are basically "tourists" really does annoy me.
As posted earlier Peter Ridsdale seems to be treating ex-pat Cardiff supporters rather differently.. http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=102236&mid=659439#M659439
Still part of Great Britain until the SNP get their day... ...so despite it being another country we're not foreigners and don't live abroad! He's quite right too, did you or did you not get back home for MOTD following the win at Anfield?!
I'm fortunate enough to have kindly been offered a ticket by a ST holder. But it shouldn't have to be like that - there should be categories down to a level that accommodates long distance fans without them having to rely on other fans.
RE: Aslong as he doesn't try and bum me I would imagine he's still recovering from his op so you could probably run away if you really wanted to.
Category One: Season ticket holders Category Two: 10 ticket stubs Category three: 5 ticket stubs Category four: Centenary Society Members Category Five: 2 ticket stubs Category Six: One ticket stub Category Seven: You live a long way away and you don't get to any games but you're kind of fond of the town that you deserted and you think you should be entitled to go to one of the biggest games in the towns history Summat like that?
Can't see any reason not to go to at least category 6 And not all the people I'm talking about "deserted" Barnsley. Some of us never lived there to begin with.
