    In true British style

Tim Henman has made his money based on being a failure.

    This country loves a loser.

    Loads of meaningless Tennis matches......

In competitions that the top players do not enter..... Tell me if I'm wrong, but he has never beaten a player that was ranked number 1 at the time.....

Tennis boffs get excited everytime he played at Wimbledon, when anyone who had any sense knew he would not win it......

Murray will go the same way - you mark my words.

I do actually feel sorry for Timid Tim

Or Tiger Tim, or whatever. Hopefully he'll have the sense to retire after Wimbledon this year because he's not going to make it now, but he did fly the flag for the UK for a decent time and was ranked fifth in the World if memory serves, which is no mean feat.

Just another British tennis player with promise but with the inability to win the big prize. Bobby Wilson was the first I remember, then footballer, Mike Sangster, Roger Taylor..... the list goes on.

    I agree...

an average sportsman in his chosen field built up by the british media. In fairness its not Tim's fault he was built up to be something he never was.

The nation grasped at straws with Tim. He was never going to win Wimbeldon because of a number of things, expectation of the public, nerves and mainly due to the lack of skill.

Fair play to the lad, hes made a lot of money. If I was as average at my job though I'd get the bullet.

You must be pretty good at your job then

As Tim was ranked in the top 10 in the world for quite a few years reaching a peak of number 5

if thats your or your bosses view of average you are a fairly demanding person.

Just out of interest why do you watch Barnsley - surely AC milan or Real Madrid would be the only clubs for you

Best player we've had since Roger Taylor. Mind you

it just goes to show that to make it in tennis in Britain you need a few bob behind you. Tim had a tennis court in hisgarden, Murray's mum is a tennis coach, costs the parents an absolute fortune in money and time.

Real Madrid? Pah! Average - not won the league for 4 years! Rubbish!

Too much pressure and expectation being put on individual sports people - Andy Murray being touted up early, Lewis Hamilton…FFS Murray Walker was saying he could go on and beat Schumachers record for World Titles….he's in his first season and the expectation is already being heaped on him!

It's also a matter of timing, Henman around at the time of a player of the calibre of Sampras, Murray has Federer there.

Was 2 sets to 1 up against Goran when they had to go off

for rain, he was stuffing him and when they came back the next day he wasn't in the same form. Reckon if it hadn't rained hethat could well have been his year. Or he could have just bottled it again I suppose.
